Jake is no where near the top of his game, it's not a knock on the man, he's getting old, it happens even to the best.
I'd answer the same to any player picked up after 3/4 of the NFL season. You don't sign & immediately run a unique offense, which to the best of my knowledge only Houston & Washington run, and start that week. Of course as with all opinions, for better or worse, it's mine.

So would you say Donovan Mcnabb is going out near the top of his game? Their careers ended in similar fashion

I never said he was at the top of his game. He wasn't. I was saying that when he was picked up by Houston last year that he was already behind someone who was young but already familiar with the offense. It's not like her was there for training camp and familiar with all the line/receivers/backs involved. It takes time to build a rapport with personnel. That's all.

I responded to a post that said jake would rather go out at the top of his game than hold a clip board. All I said was he isn't near the top of his game and hasn't been for a while.

Sorry then, I mistook your quote "Jake is not near the top of his game, he got beat out by a rookie in houston last year".

Jake, at the top of his game would have beaten a rookie, training camp or not.

Jake at the top of his game would have won the Super Bowl if his coach had been on the top of his game.

As is Jake was voted the top performance by a QB on a non winning role.

Actually if his kicker doesn't kick the kickoff out of bounds, he most likely wins the Super Bowl

Jake at the top of his game would not have been sitting at home for the first 11 weeks of the season. So the state of his game is not really in question.

That being said, he didn't get beat out by a rookie. There was no competition. It was the rookie's job before Jake even had a tryout.

So when said he only wanted to sign with a contender, what he meant was I want to go somewhere where I don't even have a chance to play? Really? Jake hasn't been good for 3 years, the last good season he had was after surgery when they went 12-4, since then he has been pretty bad, sugar coat it any way you want.

  12. UL Football Carolina Perspective

The rise and fall of Jake Delhomme is a subject of both pride and pain for Carolina Panther fans as they reflect on their former quarterback who won their hearts, only to later break those same hearts in spectacular fashion.

By the time his career ended in Carolina, Jake and his fans had developed one of the most emotionally complex relationships in recent NFL history, a relationship that began with adoration but sadly ended with Jake being booed into oblivion by the same fans who once adoringly cheered him.

Like no other player before him, Panther fans viewed Jake Delhomme as both a hero and a goat, the face of the franchise's greatest successes and the author of some of its most epic failures.
