I don't think Jake would be OK with carrying a clipboard on the sideline for the next 3 or 4 years. I think he'll retire while he's still close to the top of his game. You can hang around for too long in the NFL. Look at Joe Montana's years in KC, Stabler's at NO, Archie's at Minn., etc.

Dude, Joe Montana had some great years in KC.

Well that's a total misunderstanding of the situation.

No, you are being a homer, if a former super bowl quarterback can't beat out Matt Moore, colt McCoy or tj Yates he is no longer anywhere near the top of his game. I understand the situation just fine.

I will never understand why arhetes will hold out for an extra $100,000 don't want to mentor for $350,000

They've already got enough money and their time is more valuable to them than the hassles of traveling and practice just to hold a clipboard.

Throwing away the "charity" years. Go out with a cause.

To be fair, Jake was signed by the Texans after the 12th week of the NFL season after injuries decimated their quarterback group. To say he couldn't "beat out" the players we were already on the team is a mischaracterization.

Would you be being fair if it wasn't jake? Jake had a good run but hasn't been very good in a few years. Regardless, a playoff contender trusted a rookie more than a veteran who played in a Super Bowl, colt McCoy and Matt Moore both just lost their jobs to rookies 2 weeks into training camp. Jake is no where near the top of his game, it's not a knock on the man, he's getting old, it happens even to the best.
