The details: Things looked bleak for the Panthers when Delhomme entered the game, as visiting Jacksonville had jumped out to a 17-0 lead early in the second half. Delhomme, a career backup with New Orleans, got the call, and he and his teammates answered. Delhomme led the Panthers on a 64-yard drive the first time he took the field, hitting Muhsin Muhammad for a 13-yard touchdown that brought the Panthers to within 10 points. After a field goal and safety closed the gap to five, Delhomme hit Steve Smith from 24 yards out for an 18-17 lead with 6:10 remaining. The Jaguars scored on a 65-yard touchdown to regain control at 23-18, so it was up to Delhomme to lead his team back in the final five minutes. On a drive that started with 3:18 left in the game, Delhomme responded when he hit Ricky Proehl in the end zone with just 16 seconds remaining. It was the first of an amazing seven comeback victories he would commandeer that season, which ended with the Panthers just a whisker away from a Super Bowl title.
