Thread: Pro. Jake Delhomme

  1. UL Football Jake's breakout performance Ranks #1 with Panthers

    The date: September 7, 2003
    The opponent: Jacksonville Jaguars
    The site: Ericsson Stadium

The details: Things looked bleak for the Panthers when Delhomme entered the game, as visiting Jacksonville had jumped out to a 17-0 lead early in the second half. Delhomme, a career backup with New Orleans, got the call, and he and his teammates answered. Delhomme led the Panthers on a 64-yard drive the first time he took the field, hitting Muhsin Muhammad for a 13-yard touchdown that brought the Panthers to within 10 points. After a field goal and safety closed the gap to five, Delhomme hit Steve Smith from 24 yards out for an 18-17 lead with 6:10 remaining. The Jaguars scored on a 65-yard touchdown to regain control at 23-18, so it was up to Delhomme to lead his team back in the final five minutes. On a drive that started with 3:18 left in the game, Delhomme responded when he hit Ricky Proehl in the end zone with just 16 seconds remaining. It was the first of an amazing seven comeback victories he would commandeer that season, which ended with the Panthers just a whisker away from a Super Bowl title.

Dont mean to sound rude or stuck-up, but who are you? And the reason I ask is because it is interesting to see someone who is not affiliated with our University but still have a connection with someone who is. BTW, nice website you have going on!

    Hey guys!

I'm just a very big Jake Delhomme fan up in Canada - I'm a Panthers fan and Jake quickly became my favourite in 2003, I decided to create a fan website for him and enjoy all of the great friends I have made in Louisiana and North Carolina etc. I went to Charlotte last year with my husband to see the Panthers play and this year we are going to see them in Buffalo.

I have no affiliation to Jake and haven't met him or anything but I understand he's aware of my website, a friend of mine from Carencro wrote him a letter and he actually sent my friend a personalized autographed picture to send back to me in Canada - if I wasn't already one of his biggest fans I sure was after that!!

As for how I have the opportunity to pass on questions to ask him for the Panthers.com article... I am on another Panthers message board with the guy who writes for Panthers.com - since I have a lot of Delhomme fans visiting my site all the time I suggested posting a form on my site for questions and he thought that was a great idea so I'm passing them on to him for the Q & A interview he will be doing with Jake shortly.

I'm glad you enjoy my website, I enjoy making it and all of the nice comments and great people I've had the opportunity to chat with because of it.

No offense taken to your question, lxa.... I've had a few people ask how this lady up in Canada knows Jake so there's my answer.... I've never met him but hopefully some day I will!

    Thanks again...

That's great that Jake won, but the article next to it is pretty interesting too.

    Good eye waterboy.

Ironic parallels with the two stories.

Nate was hoping to make $75G Jake made $65G
Both have spent substantial time in St. Martin Parish.
Nate is the Dope man. Jake is the Hope man.
