Delhomme will lead the browns to the promise land.
yea haha. truth is, after this lebron thing, i'm pulling for every pro Cleveland sports team except when they play the hornets or saints. I'm hoping Jake plays well b/c those fans are rough. you remember what derek anderson said about them after he left? if jake does bad he is gonna get destroyed by the fans. I hope he plays well.
Last championship won by a Cleveland team was when the Browns won the NFL championship in 1964. That was prior to the AFL-NFL merger and the Super Bowl. They beat the Baltimore Colts in a very close championship game that year. Note 1964 was three years before the Saints began play.
Who???
BEREA, Ohio — For a refreshing change, there is no controversy over who will start at quarterback for the Cleveland Browns.
But that doesn't mean there isn't a stadium full of questions about the guy — Jake Delhomme — set to take the first snap at Tampa Bay on Sept. 12.
The rest of the story
So when McCoy says watching from the sideline is hard, he isn't complaining or whining. It's just an adjustment, one Delhomme remembers making as a rookie in 1998.
Like McCoy, Delhomme was a star in high school and college. When Delhomme graduated from the University of Louisiana, he was the all-time State of Louisiana college passing leader (9,216 yards and 64 touchdowns).
Big deal.
Delhomme wasn't drafted. He signed with the Saints as an undrafted rookie in 1998. He played in six games in five years with the Saints before signing with Carolina. His career took off in 2003, when he led the Panthers to the Super Bowl.
"I started four years in high school, four years in college and when I got to the NFL I was on a knee for 90 percent of practice," Delhomme said. "Your reps are very limited and you get better with reps. It's a major adjustment. There's no way around it."
