Saints better give Bushrod some help in pass rush situations or Brees may be in danger. Everyone says the way to beat the Saints is to run the ball and keep the offense off the field. Carolina may actually be able to do that so I see that game being closer than most will predict. Of course the Saints have to worry about the Falcons tonight. That is another reason Carolina will be in that game. Short week for the Saints to prepare for them. _
I have seen Jake play several times this year(and last)...he is not the same player he used to be. The accuracy is not there and he cannot get away from the rush. Add to the fact his line is not very good at pass blocking and you have a below average QB. He is obviously still capable of playing a good game, but he looks more like a back-up at this stage of his career.

Where the heck is that guy from? I've seen him at Mardi Gras parades on the Northshore and Southshore.

He does seem to get around. But I think from what I remember from his time in the Daily Advertiser spotlight (which I'm sure he'd prefer to forget) his address was listed as being in this area.

  9. UL Football Jake's done for season, not done with Panthers

Though speculation about Jake Delhomme's future with the Carolina Panthers ratcheted up after he was placed on injured reserve Thursday, the team's position on him remains the same, according to general manager Marty Hurney.

"This move doesn't change anything about his future," said Hurney. "We feel the same about Jake as we did yesterday before we put him on I.R. We've made it clear we have confidence in Jake."

I'm glad he's coming back, but it is still bittersweet as he is really starting to lose his stuff. That Tommy John surgery has definitely messed with his throwing ability as he just hasn't been nearly as accurate on the deep pass. Panthers fans are so enthralled by Matt Moore that they don't realize that he isn't the long term solution at that position. The panthers really should use their first pick (2nd rounder) to draft a promising QB, bring him in and let Jake start next season while the new guy gets acclimated to the NFL. Also, this would give Jake a chance to impart any knowledge of the offense that Carolina runs to the new guy to help bring him along. Its a win/win situation, if Jake and the team does well, they'll get a shot at the playoffs and such, and if he has another bad season, the future of the team at QB can be put in somewhere around mid-season (kind of like what happened with Kerry Collins). I'm hoping for the best.

I'm happy for him because he will get to stay with a team that he wants to play for. I'm proud of them for not throwing him out the door when they had the chance to do so. Delhomme is a good guy and deserves the respect that he is getting from Carolina. I wish he was a Saint all these years, but seeing him have a good career anywhere is a victory for him, UL, and Cajun Country in general.

It's time for Jake to buy his big mansion in Breaux Bridge and live happily ever after. I'm very happy for him. What a great career that wouldn't happen today. The European League gave us two great QB's that never would have gotten their chance.
