_ I think the best part about that game was seeing the spirit that he played with and the spirit he brought to that team. The Saints were having a bad year as Ditka's tenure was winding down. I had been to the previous home game where Jake had just been resigned the week before but did not play. I remember how lethargic the team looked in that game, like they were just dialing it in. A fan in front of me kept saying the Saints need a QB and I told him they have one but he's standing on the sidelines. We had the same seats for the Cowboys game and that same fan was there and could not believe the difference. He kept turning around and looking at me as if he'd just won the lottery. And the same players that looked like they had dialed it in the week before were pumped and animated in the huddle. After the game Kyle Turley was interviewed and asked about Jake's "surprise" performance. Turley responded in his characteristic somewhat surly and disdainful manner to the reporter "We all knew he could play."

Even if Jake's career is winding down now he had his time in the spotlight. It was good to see a guy who slugged it out and worked hard finally get that "Rudy" moment. _

Dude is a flat out winner and it rubs off on the players around him!

After watching this game... it's not so much Jake as it is the whole team.

Not much protection on keys plays and WR's are just not catching the balls.

Smith leaves Jake out to dry.

Carolina can still turn this around. 0-3 into the bye will break you or wake you.

Jake threw a quick slant in Smith's direction, but Smith looked as if he was going towards the sideline instead. Resulted in an interception. The WRs dropped key passes throughout the game, you can tell Jake wanted this win.

Jake's line in this game looks bad, with 2 int's - one returned for a td- and a fumble, but this loss wasn't his fault. The Panthers can't run the football, the receivers can't get open, and they aren't playing very good defense. Not a good football team right now.

Steve Smith broke off the planned quick slant route there was nothing Jake could have done... Also M M did not make a very strong effort on the first int. The panthers are playing bad football but it is not all Jake's fault.

Jake didn't help his case, but frankly the problem comes down to a combination of problems. That O-line looks AWFUL! There's no protection and no holes. On top of that, the coaching staff has completely abandoned the run game...seriously...16 rushes? You have Deangelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart in the backfield and you run it 16 times? I understand throwing when you're down, but we were up 7-0 at the break and didn't trail until the 3rd quarter...so why didn't we run the ball at all? Pathetic coaching. the last problem with this team is our glorious Franchise player...seriously watch him and tell me what he does to deserve 1 MILLION DOLLARS PER GAME!! That is absof!@#lutely retarded! I seriously don't even think he's trying, he looks like he's playing 2 hand touch. Please, whatever we can do to ensure he doesn't get a contract worth more than a 6 pack of beer next year, please do it cuzz he's not worth it. I seriously hate Peppers worse than any player in the NFL right now.
