Does Jake Delhomme have "Comeback Player of the Year" honors wrapped up?
Me thinks so.

I'd love to say yes, but Kerry Collins will probably win this award and probably rightfully so. I actually think that Jake doesn't deserve it, because there would have had to be a question about whether or not he was coming back, and the fact that the panthers didn't draft another QB OR pick one up in free agency told me that he was coming back. Kerry Collins was a washed up journeyman that everyone thought had nothing left in the tank, and he's played very well this year. As a wildcard, you also have to consider Gus Ferrotte. That is a guy that I didn't even think was in the NFL anymore and he brought the vikings back from the dead.
Jake is having a good year, but I doubt that he'll win the comeback player of the year.
Even in hindsight the Panther were nuts not to have another QB at the ready.
You might be right but starting at QB just 11 months from Tommy John surgery (and being successful) tops Kerry Collins imo.

Jake is 7-2 against the saints....

CHARLOTTE - It belongs in the Strange But True category.
Jake Delhomme has never played a football game in the snow -- not in college at Southwestern Louisiana (now Louisiana-Lafayette), not in 11 seasons as a quarterback in the NFL.
Delhomme dropped that stunning fact on media who regularly cover the Carolina Panthers earlier this week, as the Panthers prepared for Sunday night's showdown against the New York Giants.
The closest Delhomme has come to playing in the snow was earlier this season, when flurries started to fall late in the Panthers' 35-31 win at Green Bay.

All you Panther fans out there. Are you guys still going to be Panther fans when Jake retires or is traded? Not a dig but curious. Since the Saints are bound for another miserable year I'm pulling for the Panthers in the playoffs. But next year I will be back with the Saints.
Actually, Yes. I love the way the team plays football, hard hitting solid football. I might be the only panthers fan in Louisiana that feels that we need to draft another QB. I think while Jake is still doing well, we need to have someone in waiting because I don't see him making it more than a few more years as the panthers QB. Heck, I bought a Steve Smith Jersey. This is my team now, Jake brought me to them, and I'm stickin with them for better of worse from now on.
Yeah, instead we're all just left pulling for Jake (not that that's a bad thing, mind you...).
I for one won't be pulling for Jake next Sunday.Let's go Saints. In the playoffs however I hope Carolina wins it all
