The 800 pound gorilla in this whole discussion is "System"

Jake, Brees, and Desormeax are all in a system that fits them very well. I don't think any would do AS WELL in the others system. For instance I don't think Jake or Brees could do what Desormeaux is doing, "In this system."

I do have a feeling (and it's only a feeling) Jake could move from one system to the next with the most freedom. . . . he did rush for 86 yards vs Carolina in 1999. And on a personal level he did out perform Brady in a SuperBowl.

If Brees is so damn great he should overcome the inadequicies of the players around him. If you dont remember the Panthers were possibly the worst NFL team the year before Jake got there.

You sure like to ASSUME a lot. I'm neither from Breaux Bridge or Teurlings. Quit making an ass of yourself! _
never said you were from breaux bridge or teurlings,

Funny how you want to blame last year on David. Did you forget Brees had 9 interceptions and only 1 TD the first 4 games of the year?

Keep Brees, I'll take Delhomme any day, he may not be pretty but he knows how to win in the end!

i agree, i was making the point that in the biggest team sport there is, that you cant say that bowl games makes a better player. This is not tennis or golf where one person can decide the fate of an entire team. Look, i like jake and i think he is a really good QB but to say i would rather have him than drew brees is rediculous. Which outside of breaux bridge the entire nation would agree including panther fans. even before jake got hurt he and jon fox were on the hot seat.

Look, I like Jake, but to say he should have been starting for the Saints since 2000 is just plain silly. Like him or not, Aaron Brooks actually had some very good years with the Saints. And I hate Aaron Brooks, so don't think I'm some Haslett apologist.

Anyway, there's only one way to settle this argument and that's by presenting unbiased statistical information on each player. Choose wisely (and no cheating by looking up players stats to try to figure out who averages what):

    Player X (from parts unknown)

    17.26 completions per game
    28.96 attempts per game
    209.56 yards per game
    1.38 TDs per game
    0.907 INT per game

    Player Y (from parts unknown)

    21.44 completions per game
    33.39 attempts per game
    238.98 yards per game
    1.5 TDs per game
    0.907 INT per game

    Player Z (from parts unknown)

    17.98 completions per game
    31.86 attempts per game
    217.86 yards per game
    1.32 TDs per game
    0.98 INT per game

P.S. I didn't include the "Just Win" category, because that is really a moot point in the NFL. All three players have been surrounded by completely different casts at various points in their careers, and all have won and lost in those situations. In fact, their overall records are VERY similar if you take out their best and worst seasons of their careers and average it out.

I think the responses on this thread show your opinion is in the extreme minority. Its easy to twist stats to enhance your arguement, but the bottom line is Brees plays the QB position better than Jake. Anyone that watches the NFL regularly knows this.

Can you not comprehend what you read? I never once said for a second that Jake was a better QB then Brees! Alex Rodriguez is the best damn baseball player in my time, but no way in hell would I ever want him on my team! All I said was in my own damn opinion I would take Jake on my team over Brees! Now run on over to the saints practice facility, apparantly you are Drew Brees' personal jock cleaner.

    GEAUX UL!

PS. Drew Brees is the quarterback I picked for my fantasy team! I love the stats he is putting up. Luckily fantasy games aren't won with wins just numbers!

Why would you not want the best?

What has AROD done in the playoffs? JACK SQUAT! What has Brees done in the playoffs? A whole lot less then Jake! I want the guy that wins, not the guy with the best numbers. Stats are just window dressing. Jake is a gamer and he wins, bottom line.

    GEAUX UL!

Do you want AROD the best statistical player on your team except when it counts in the playoffs, or do you want a guy like Josh Beckett average during the season but lights out when its nut cutting time?

OK, I'm a little slow on the uptake. You want players that are not as good as other players, but happen to win more games. How do you feel about Kevin Faulk over Reggie Bush. Faulk has made some key contributions in the Patriots Super Bowl runs. Reggie makes spectacular plays in Saints losses. By your line of thinking the Panthers should get rid of Jake and get Kurt Warner. He is a Super Bowl Champ and has a better winning percentage!

You made my point exactly, Jake may not make spectacular plays or look pretty like Bush, but more often then not Jake wins, while the Saints look spectacular losing!
