I know there are many fan boys here for Delhomme. I'm a Saints fan but he is playing on TV and the Saints are not directly involved I pull for him. Same as Stokley. I was glad to see him do so well even against my Saints. My question is what has Delhomme or Stokley done for the Cajuns? Why isn't Delhomme our Bradshaw? Perhaps he is and I don't know it. If not why not?
I have seen him in videos recruiting for the university, in ESPN interviews wearing a ragin cajuns hat, and he appears at various events in town. I don't know his involvement in recruiting, but I bet he does what he can. In 2001 or 2002 I went to a UL recruitment event, academic that is, there was Jake Delhomme; he spoke with my father and I for at least 15 minutes and he was a great spokesman for the university, and still is. Give him a few years, he'll be Bradshaw'n it up
I dont' think anyone besides coaches are allowed to recruit athletes, so Jake and Brandon can't exactly do a whole lot in that area.
But I know Jake does a lot, showing up at fundraisers and such. He doesn't exactly have the platform that Bradshaw does, getting several hours a week of TV time to be a fountain of inaninty. It's not like he can wear a UL jersey on the field.
Well, it's a start toward realization of a huge mistake... but, it still sounds thin. It wasn't a mistake... it was a tremendous error in judgement. It started long before Aaron got hurt, and it was obvious to anyone remotely involved with the Saints (way beyond UL-based Jake admirers). But, it's good that even a crowbar can look back and recognize his own stupidity when he gets far enough away from it to allow his sack to stop dominating his heart and mind.
Yeah, Jake might still be the SAINTS' QB if Haslett could've pulled his head out of his @$$$ for just a moment back then...
