Jake Delhomme led the Carolina Panthers in touchdown passes last year, despite playing all of two and a half games before an elbow injury put him on injured reserve. That was the bad news. The good news is that 16 weeks after having Tommy John surgery, Delhomme is throwing without pain in rehab.
According to Pat Yaskinas -- who left the Charlotte Observer for ESPN and is all over their web site today -- Delhomme is throwing a Nerf ball 20 times a day. He wants to throw more, but the trainers won't let him. However, the team is starting to believe that Delhomme has a shot at being ready for the start of training camp. That would be a huge boost for the Panthers, who would have had a real shot at winning the NFC South in 2007 with a healthy Delhomme.
