Arguably the best quarterback in the Superbowl. Of course he would have done great in New Orleans. How anyone could think otherwise is almost ludicrous.

I mean when he was a Saint it was his position to take while he was there.
Wrong. Dead wrong. Jake was never given a chance. The Saints brought in Jeff Blake as their big free-agent signing almost immediately after Haslett/Muller were hired, and Brooks entered training camp as the No. 2 QB. Jake wasn't given a chance because he was one of Ditka's boys.
So how does that compare to other states statman?Originally posted by Turbine
Unless a SuperBowl had more than one Louisiana QB in the same game, Louisiana quarterbacks have been a part of 12 superbowls. That would be over 31% of every superbowl ever played.

After leading Carolina to the Super Bowl and playing well in the game, Jake Delhomme is unfazed by the hero's adulation thrown his way
Ten days after starring on a worldwide stage in Super Bowl XXXVIII, Carolina Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme is basking in the peace and serenity of his tiny hometown of Breaux Bridge.
Arguably, Delhomme's life will never be the same, but he plans to keep the changes to a minimum and remain the same person that fans throughout Louisiana and North Carolina have come to love and admire.
Endorsement offers are trickling in, but Delhomme's Chicago-based agent, Rick Smith, said he is deflecting most until a later date.
A deal already has been struck with the fried-chicken chain Bojangles. Soon, a cereal called "Jake's Flakes" will be marketed in the Carolinas, with most of the proceeds going to Special Olympics. Feature stories by Sports Illustrated and ESPN are in the works.
Additionally, a "parade of champions" has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday in Breaux Bridge to honor Delhomme and four other homegrown football players -- Houston Texans and former LSU running back Domanick Davis and three members of LSU's national championship team, sophomore tight end Corey Hebert and freshman defensive backs Jessie Daniels and Jonathan Zenon.
It's the Cajun community's way of saying "We Love You."
"It's more of a celebration than anything," Delhomme said Monday. "They're kind of celebrating all five of us and the seasons that we've had.
"It's something the city wanted to do. I think it's great that they want to honor us. It's kind of funny in a way, this little town and all the success we've had in football."
Delhomme and the Panthers came up short against the New England Patriots, losing 32-29 on Adam Vinatieri's 41-yard field goal with four seconds remaining.
But Delhomme distinguished himself, completing 16 of 33 passes for 323 yards and three touchdowns. His performance warranted most valuable player consideration and further endeared him to an adoring public.
"People from all over the country want to interview him, but he just needs a little time to spend with his family and his people and his horses back in Breaux Bridge," Smith said. "Jake has a hard time saying no to people. We're trying to protect him for a little bit from doing a million different interviews.
"I think he captivated the national media because of his story and the kind of guy he is and how he portrays himself. He's a hell of a fun guy to be around. It couldn't happen to a better guy."
BREAUX BRIDGE, La. (AP) -- Carolina Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme and Houston Texans running back Dominick Davis were honored in a parade and ceremony in their home town Sunday.
Authorities estimated the crowd at about 7,000 people. The population of Breaux Bridge is only a few hundred more than that.
Also honored were three members of LSU's national championship football team: Jessie Daniels, Jonathan Zenon and Kory Hebert.
"It's a tribute to not only us as athletes but the town we're from, these parks we grew up on," Delhomme said. "It's an honor."
Delhomme keeps a home on family property here and is living there now. Two weeks ago, he nearly led the Panthers to a Super Bowl victory against the New England Patriots, who won on a field goal in the waning seconds.
Delhomme said he's been embarrassed at times by all the adulation he's gotten since returning home.
He talked about going to Wal-Mart on a recent rainy morning, expecting that few people would be there.
Before he knew it, someone was announcing his presence over the store's public address system.
On Sunday, he sought at times to remind his lifelong neighbors that he's the same guy they knew growing up.
"I'm just Jake," he said.
Davis, a former LSU star, ran for 1,031 yards and eight touchdowns for the Texans in 2003, his rookie season.
"The things we need to do, me Jake and the guys at LSU, we just got to keep coming back home and showing them what's going on and keep showing them positive things," Davis said.
Parade of Stars recognizes homegrown athletes
BREAUX BRIDGE — He might own two Super Bowl rings, but even Kevin Faulk is a fan of Breaux Bridge’s five football standouts who were honored in a parade Sunday.
The residents of this small city lined the sidewalks downtown to cheer and catch some beads thrown by their hometown football heroes, including LSU Tigers and national championship team members Jonathan Zenon, Jessie Daniels and Kory Hebert; NFL Pepsi Rookie of the Year Domanick Davis of the Houston Texans; and Super Bowl quarterback Jake Delhomme of the Carolina Panthers.
“Next to your families and Breaux Bridge, I’m probably your next-biggest fan,” Faulk, who is from Carencro, told the men seated on a stage for a ceremony following the parade. Each man was given a key to the city from Mayor Jack Dale Delhomme, including Faulk. When it was Jake Delhomme’s turn
at the microphone, he called Faulk to the stage, introducing him to the crowd before speaking of himself.
Faulk told Delhomme, “Jake, I’d like to thank you for a great game. You had me sweatin’.”
Faulk and Delhomme faced each other in the Super Bowl on Feb. 1, with Faulk’s New England Patriots winning by three points in the last four seconds, 32-29.
If Carolina had a few more minutes in that game, the outcome might have been different, said Sonny Charpentier, Delhomme’s high school football coach at Teurlings Catholic.
“You got the key to the city, but if you got the ball one more time, you’d have gotten the key to that Cadillac,” Charpentier told Delhomme, before presenting him with a plaque on behalf of the city.
There’s still next year Delhomme told the crowd, as he gave his thanks to the community for its support.
“Hopefully in 10, 15 years from now, we can present plaques to one of these kids here, it doesn’t have to be in athletics,” Delhomme said.
As for next year, Delhomme joked, “Kevin’s a free agent. I’d welcome him to Carolina.”

What a week for my daughter, she just turned 9 and today caught a pass from Jake Delhomme. I couldn't get her to watch a football game with me last year, she is so excited I'll bet she will be telling me when the games are on.

Jake Delhomme
I know this might be off topic, but I like Jake Delhomme, I think he is a great QB but he also makes mistakes, but everyone does right? I feel sorry for the Carolina Panthers for being so close to winning the superbowl, but I don't feel sorry for them losing, because being at the superbowl isn't something to be sorry for, I mean yeah, they were close, but just getting the oppertunity to be there I think is great. I think that every foorball player should make it to the Superbowl, and I would be happy to see Jake make it to the superbowl again (no matter what team he is on) and lead his team to victory!

what mistake did Jake make? i'm confused at part of your comment. if it's the game! i think Jake did everything he could and more to win, he certainly outsmarted the clueless announcers. Yea! Jake is a great guy and knowing him personally is even better.
My daughter caught some "Jake Delhomme Beads" and is really proud of them too.
