He was down on the field. After signing autographs in the stands for most of the 4th Q, he walked the sidelines, greeted Des and then spoke to Bustle for a while. I don't think people could have been any more excited.

  2. Default Great Article on Jake

It is headlined----"They will Follow Him" in the Nov. 24th issue of Sporting News Mag. Talks about his growing up in BB and his grandpa--also Teurlings and the Cajuns--A great color action photo of his UL days--sorry I don't know how to show it---anyone on this board would love it!!!!! If anybody follows Bama --they will also love this issue!!!!

  3. UL Football McCarthy Helped Shape Delhomme

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Carolina Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme gives Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy a large share of the credit for his success in the NFL.

Delhomme was starting his fourth NFL season when McCarthy came to the New Orleans Saints in 2000 as the offensive coordinator under new head coach Jim Haslett.

While Delhomme had shown promise as an undrafted free agent out of Louisiana-Lafayette, he was reaching a critical juncture in his career after spending 1997 on the Saints' practice squad and the next two seasons as the team's third quarterback.

    Prolly not.
We are Cajun fans... NFL is a side show... kinda like pro women's softball... I'll root for a Cajun, couldn't care less if the team was in New Orleans or Bahgdad

The Saints had Delhomme, that was easy... easy to root for the home team.

If the Saints get Fenroy, I'll prolly root for the team they let him go to, that's how it worked in the past.

UL has shown loyalty to me, so the school gets it.

    The Saints??? c'mon.

The only people who follow pro football that don't think the Saints franchise is a joke are Saints fans.

  5. UL Football

At some point Sunday in Carolina, Brandon Stokley might stop and wave to old buddy Jake Delhomme, just a friendly hello between former college teammates who once set Division I-A ablaze at Southwestern Louisiana. Or is that goodbye?

When it comes to Stokley, the Broncos receiver, and Delhomme, the Panthers quarterback, the connection always was obvious: Delhomme flung 'em and Stokley hauled 'em in.

Improvisation often was key. Yet the lines of communication would get crossed once every blue moon.

On Aug. 31, 1996, playing at "The Swamp" at the University of Florida, would be one notable occasion. The Gators were ranked fourth in the country, heavily favored against the Ragin' Cajuns and ultimately on their way to a national championship.

    Default Let's GEAUX Jake!

I'm a Saints fan but since they have tanked I'm climbing on the Delhomme wagon. I want Stokley to have a great game but I want Delhomme to win.

The broadcast crew just mentioned that Stokley and Delhomme played together at Southwestern Louisiana. I was hoping he would have said Louisiana or even Louisiana-Lafayette. That tid bit of info did not do much for us unless you are familar with the name change.
