This happens all the time. It's called professional sports. Jake should have started. We had a dumb coaching mistake. He went to another team so be it. All around the country this happens. If you like the Saints that is fine. If you want to pull for Jake that is fine.
But I get aggravated:
1) when people insinuate that the Saints would be better with Jake than with Drew Brees. First, Drew Brees is playing lights out and is one of the hottest qb's in the league. However, throw that aside. You simply do not know. It's impossible to tell. Jake did what was needed in the Super Bowl run, no doubt. However, his defense was also incredible. They held teams to 10 and 3 in two separate playoff games. We do not know. Jake could have started his first game and gone down with an ACL injury we don't know.
2) when people insinuate that I am wasting my time for rooting for a loser of a franchise. I would think Cajun fans, more than anybody, would be sympathetic to fans that route for a struggling team. People say that the Saints haven't been good since they started their franchise. We haven't been stellar at UL and we just played our 1000th game.
Some things are tradition, like Boudin, Cracklin, tailgating at Cajun Field, Mardi Gras. I grew up watching Saints football with my family on Sunday. And my sons or daughters and I will watch the Saints together. This is not a shot at Jake. I think he is a good NFL quarterback and am proud of him. But Geaux Saints.
