Hey I never said I ever make sence.
Great game Jake!

Imagine how bad the panthers would have beaten
Jacksonville if Brooks was the QB.![]()
Delhomme means "the man" in French, and Jake was just that in leading the Panthers to a come-from-behind 24-23 victory over the Jaguars. But the winning points came when 14-year veteran Ricky Proehl grabbed an over-the-shoulder, 12-yard touchdown catch with 16 second remaining on fourth down. However, the game didn't end until the Panthers' defense blocked a 55-yard field-goal attempt by Seth Marler on the last play. "The huddle was very calm and I was very calm," Delhomme said. "I had guys in the huddle wanting the ball and that gives me confidence as a quarterback."
Delhomme's second half sinks Jaguars
NFL.com wire reports
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Sept. 7, 2003) -- Jake Delhomme ran into the Carolina Panthers' huddle, fists pumping and words of encouragement flying. It was his first chance to be the starting quarterback, and Delhomme wasn't going to blow it.
Delhomme replaced a highly ineffective Rodney Peete at the start of the second half and energized the Panthers with a pep talk and three touchdown passes -- the last with 16 seconds to play -- to rally the Panthers to a 24-23 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the opener.
"He came in and kind of gave everyone a high-five and said, 'We're going to win the game,'" receiver Muhsin Muhammad said. "We had no doubts in our mind after that."
The Panthers trailed 17-0 when Delhomme came in, but he never panicked, not even facing fourth-and-11 on the Jaguars 12 with time ticking away.

Backup QB completes Carolina's 17-point comeback with 16 seconds left
As he walked into the huddle for the first time with flapping hands and mouth, Jake Delhomme was a career backup. An hour or two later, he was poised to be the Carolina Panthers' quarterback of the present and future.
Delhomme, who had three touchdown passes in six anonymous seasons in New Orleans, threw three second-half touchdown passes Sunday -- the last to Ricky Proehl with 16 seconds left -- and the Panthers defeated Jacksonville 24-23 in their season opener in front of 64,357 fans at Ericsson Stadium.
Coach John Fox had seemed intent on sticking with veteran Rodney Peete despite strong preseasons by Delhomme and Chris Weinke, but he wasn't left with much choice after a disastrous first half. In 30 minutes that might have made him the quarterback of the past, Peete completed four of 10 passes for 19 yards while guiding the Panthers to 36 yards of offense and one first down.

ps. humor me and i'll alert you to when he will be on (grins)
According to ESPN the 17 point comeback was one of the largest in several years for any NFL team. There were about 6 better in the 90's.
It wasn’t all Jake Delhomme on Sunday, but he was in the middle of every good thing that happened to the Carolina Panthers in their opening game.
Look in the huddle and there he is, talking and cajoling, slapping hands and talking trash he doesn’t want his mama to hear, all the time believing so strongly the Panthers will prevail that his teammates have no choice but to believe him.
“Jake’s got a jumpy spirit about him,” said Muhsin Muhammad, who caught the first of Delhomme’s three touchdown passes.
Those passes, all in the second half, propelled Carolina to a thundering comeback and a 24-23 victory against Jacksonville.
A quarterback is more than a player with a strong arm and a loud voice. He’s a player who, when time is ticking away and the game is slipping away, refuses to panic. Spot the opponent 17 points. Send the blitz. Send 12 men onto the field, which the Jaguars once did.
Doesn’t matter. Going to get you anyway.

On his family's 14-acre farm in tiny Breaux Bridge, La., new Carolina quarterback Jake Delhomme owns several thoroughbred horses that he helps train and race all over the bayou. There's Secret Silence. Hello Heaven. Baggy Pants. And while Delhomme would love to have a stakes winner, he'd settle for just getting to name one of the horses. The closest he's come so far was suggesting 1st and 10 for his last foal. Instead someone tagged the horse Wide Eyes.
Of course, if you've watched Delhomme at all this season, Wide Eyes just might be the most appropriate football name you could give one of his horses.
He stared down the Bucs swarming D in Week 2. And in the season opener, he faced a 0-17 deficit against the Jags when coach John Fox shoved him into the huddle to lead an offense that had amassed 36 yards in the first half behind vet Rodney Peete. Delhomme tucked his head between some shoulder pads, looked his teammates in the eye and screamed "Get you're f---ing heads up!"
Well, they're up now. And our eyes are wide.
Delhomme led the Panthers to a 24-23 win over the Jags, capped by an oh-so clutch pass to wideout Ricky Proehl. (Does he catch any other kind?) The following week Delhomme somehow managed to the defending world champions with a QB rating (15.9) that seemed to have the decimal point in the wrong place. Teammates say Jake hasn't provided a spark -- it's been more like a tick-tick-tick & kaaaaBOOM.
