not to nit pick but you are correct, no contract is guaranteed but there is guaranteed money in the form of signing bonuses and such like that of what Jake D just signed for. Obviously there is no certain timeframe for him to be with the Panthers but he is guaranteed a certain amount of money.

Usually the signing bonus is guaranteed.

That's the point that I was making. I believe this is really the only part of the contract that is considered guaranteed.

I hate to say it... but I've been thinking the same thing. He may go down as one of those players who was great in college, but didn't guite have the size and/or speed to make it in the NFL. I hope I'm wrong, of course, and that he gets a chance... but I'm not feeling good right now.

Talked to Carl Smith with the Browns and he said they cut some after that first week also--said a player in this situation needs to show something that stands out---probably his size and speed didn't help!!!
