    WHY???

I went to the Saints/Bears game last season in Chicago and their fans are a-holes. I certainly don't mind getting heckled. In fact, I expect it. But in good fun. They are just straight up mean.

I've seen Saints games in Philadelphia, San Diego, New York (Jets), Tampa Bay, San Francisco and Chicago. Bears fans are above and beyond the most hateful.

It's funny, Cubs fans are the most easy going, live and let live fans I have ever been around. I was surprised by the hostility at the Saints Bears NFC championship game. I think their fans were tired of the feel good Saints/Katrina story and that had something to do with the hostility. Also, the stakes were very high with the super bowl being on the line.

they are in the NFC, they have the worst fans in professional sports (see picture above your post) , their field is a slop pit, it seems any time the saints play the bears it is in Chicago..... I did like Walter Payton though

I see where you are coming from Cajuns67. It is also extremely mind boggeling that we have so many Carolina Panther fans???? That's like me saying that my favorite team in College Football is Troy? I just don't get it......I understand people may like to follow Jake and all, but man you gotta draw a dang line somewhere huh?

    BEARS ARE TERRIBLE!

It's still no excuse to cross the line. How would people feel if the Saints were playing New York right after 9/11 and New Orleans fans held up signs finishing what the terrorist started? You just don't make fun of a national tragedy. Also it was more than one goober with a sign like that.

This is so COOL Re: "Creole Combo"

I remember the Katrina incident at the Bear's game. I had a number of friends who attended the game and said the Bear's fans apologized for the jack-ass behavior of a very few.

I can't tell you the behavior of some LSU fans towards UL fans at Tiger stadium.

I hope Fenroy has the success that Tillman has.

It is exactly like the UL students who pull for LSU. They CHOOSE to do so, just like I am a casual Saints fan or NFL fan for that matter, so I pull for the Bears because I like there style of football and use to love Jim McMahon. Knowing Peanut and now Fenroy going to the Bears is just an added bonus.

UL has an alumni chapter called ABC, Alumni By Choice. I believe it is made up of a lot of faculty and others who aren't UL alums but choose to support UL. Many people choose to support schools other than their alma mater for a number of reasons. It is up to the school to foster the pride and support of its alumni, otherwise people will follow what is fun and exciting in sports. UL has not done that since Dr. A was in office. Hence, a lot of lost alumni and fans were never indoctrinated in UL and never developed that sense of loyalty. My next door neighbor went to Texas State (Southwest Texas when he graduated). He lived in Shreveport for a few years before moving to Houston and fell in love with LSU football. He is now a BIG LSU supporter and wears LSU gear all the time. He doesn't support Texas State nor mentions he is an alumnus of that school. I was watching a UL vs. N. Texas game on tv a couple of years ago at the Ragin Cajun restaurant here in Houston. At the same time was an LSU game on tv. There was an obnoxious fellow there pulling for LSU, but he would keep an eye every now and then on our game. I sensed he probably didn't graduate from LSU and asked him where he went to school and he said N. Texas and that he even played football for N. Texas. But, he was now an LSU fan.

I don't understand the loss of loyalty to your alma mater, particularly as a former athlete, but that is the case. And, it is not only with LSU. How do Notre Dame or USC with its small enrollments have the national support they have? It is because a lot of alumni from other universities are Notre Dame and USC fans and follow ND & USC football religously. You could put LSU along with a few other schools in that same category of having a national following. Wouldn't UL love to have those fans, any fans filling up our stadium? Let's look in the mirror and figure out why we don't. We failed to cultivate a couple of generations of alumni and fans and are now paying the price, just as our lack of athletic funding failed to develop winning athletic teams and put us in our current situation. Don't blame LSU because of their appealing product to fans. Blame us for not creating an appealing product of our own to keep our fans. The good news, however, is that it is never too late to build the kind of program that will recapture our alumni and fans and bring new fans over to our side. It appears we are headed in that direction, finally. Well see.
