I hate to bust your bubble my good friend. Look at the RCAF doners list. Ole Swaggin has yet to give us one dime!

    * Do I like that Ike Taylor says "Swaggin", HELL NO!!!
    * Do I like that Ike Taylor is in the NFL as a UL graduate, Hell Yeah!!!!
    * Do I wish he said Louisiana or UL or University of Louisiana, Hell Yeah!!!!
    * Am I impressed that he supports the university and coaches at the coaches clinics, Hell YEah!!!!

Ike is a graduate of the University of Louisiana "in" Lafayette according to his website, that is a good thing. He even calls us Louisiana in his website, not UL, not UL Lafayette, not Louisiana Lafayette. He says "THE UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA, in Lafayette" as in I went to the University of Louisiana, located in Lafayette, La.

    "College Career
Taylor attended college at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette where he studied in psychology. In his first two years, he became academically ineligible and was unable to play football. After hard work, help, and commitment he brought his grades up and joined the football team as a walk on in 2001. This achievement earned him a scholarship. In his first season, he played tailback, special teams and returned kicks.

Prior to his senior season, Taylor asked to be moved to cornerback. He started the season at the right cornerback spot and recorded 46 tackles, eight passes defensed and two forced fumbles. In four games, he didn’t allow an opponent to catch a ball. Among his college teammates was Charles Tillman who was drafted by the Chicago Bears."

I suport Ike, granted I was pulling for GB last night. he was a great player at UL and a very good player in the NFL. We need to support our alumni that are playing professional sports not push them away.

Keep up the good work Ike, but every now and then, could you please say Louisiana.... _
How about throw us a bone and say he got is "Swagger" from UL? That would please me greatly.

Is this the criteria now for former players? Does Michael Adams belong to RCAF? With only 500+ members I would think we have several former players who are not giving. What about our super rich players like Delhomme and Stokley? I bet if I put my yearly income against Jake Delhomme's and then compared donations levels, I would blow him away. Should he be in our crosshairs?

Lets drop this subject. Nothing good will come from it. We have a rich history of producing quality NFL players. Some give back to their alma matter, some don't. That is the case with almost all universities.

    Mr Metry,

I agree and disagree with some of your statement. Comparing you and I to Ole Swaggin, Jake or Brandon are two different animals. You and I love our University and want us to get better as time goes. We put money in the RCAF as one of the means to get the results we all desire.

Jake and Brandon has donated under an assumed names. Ole Swaggin, who is always on national TV owes his very career to both Coach Bartel and Coach Bustle. For a long time he did not return any phone calls to either. You mean to tell me that a man that makes millions can not afford $1000 to the school who got him to where he is? I do not buy it.

I do agree that dropping the subject is a good thing.

How do you access this donor list? It's available to the public? Or do I need to sign in some wheres?

Lafitte is like the song in the old Rock and Roll era. "I'm In With The In Crowd".

I want to thank all the players who played for the Vermilion and White. Every player gave as much as they got. Some do not feel the need to do any more than play, and Ike played very well for the Cajuns.

Still if they have the means, perhaps they should recall how they would have liked a few more things the NCAA allowed when they played. Perhaps a few dollars from them will help future players. It is up to them IMO.

Why donate under assumed names? You don't want people to know how much or how little you give? Why stop at Jake and Brandon? What about other sport athletes? Ron Guidry? Brian Mitchell? Andrew Toney? Do they all give under assumed names?

If you don't like someone for one reason or another thats fine.. but make sure you judge everyone by that criteria. I'm always happy when a UL player makes it in the pros. Whether or not he says what university he went to on his promos.. I don't care. Ever notice more times than not the announcers discuss that he comes from Louisiana whenever he does his intro?

I think barring injuries--you get a lot more out of it then you put in---Just think time wise----I played 4 years and coached about 5 or 6 at UL---Can't tell ya'll how much having played and coached helped me in business through the years!!! All exes should be contributors!!!!! Btw my injuries kept me out of Nam---God bless the guys that went in my place and gave the ultimate sacrifice!!!
