i'll take lil' buddy over the other guy. hate the latter's guts, merely strongly dislike the coach.

I also laugh at the fact there's a "we don't like Ike" thread every time the Steelers play.

There are literally tens of thousands of UL alums out there who don't promote the university. I don't see any reason to have ill will toward those who go down that path.

And before I get an argument about these statements...yes, I know that Ike has a more prominent opportunity to promote the university than most have. But I don't hold that against him. I wish he would say "UL" or "Louisiana"...but he doesn't. End of story. Moving along.
For some, the Swaggin' crap is just the tip of the iceberg. I had classes with Ike. He's a loud mouth punk; walking around with a false sense of entitlement. I never did like him, even before I found out he was a football player.

  3. Default Taylor Looking for Third Super Bowl Ring

The Ragin' Cajuns have been a dominating presence in the NFL over the last 10 years with a proud tradition of Super Bowl Champions, and now UL gets to see a player try for his third Super Bowl ring.

Ike could care less about the Ragin Cajun program. I don't think we should get to happy for him or his success.

One of the media guys in town should interview Ike. He should thank the coach that switched him from running back to cornerback while at UL. His next should be donating his superbowl check to the RCAF instead of pimping out another escalade!!

Everything you say about him -I heard him brag loud and proud about his practice plays- I trust.

Still I think this is what got him noticed and drafted. When the NFL came to scout Charles Tillman, they couldn't avoid Taylor.

He cares, he came back and helped coach Bustle with a spring game.

If Ike never mentions UL again, he helps UL just by being in the NFL.

UL Football Coach had hand in Ike Taylor's NFL future

Grand Prairie football coach Gary Bartel remembers the day Ike Taylor became a defensive back.

Taylor, the starting cornerback for the Steelers in Sunday’s Super Bowl XLV, was a reserve running back and kick returner at the University of Louisiana with one season of eligibility remaining.

Bartel, the secondary coach at UL at the time, picks up the story: “I knew Ike had the tools to be a cornerback. Our head coach understandably wanted his speed on offense. But the head coach got fired. Before a new coach was hired, I went over to the depth chart display on the wall of the coaches office and moved Ike’s button from running back to cornerback. I told the graduate assistant not to tell a soul. I told Ike he was now a defensive back. The new coach never knew a thing about it.’’

The Bears’ Charles Tillman played the corner opposite from Taylor that season.

“I was a pretty good secondary coach with those two,’’ Bartel said.

On Pro Day at Louisiana, the scouts came to see Tillman, but Bartel remembers Taylor out jumped him and outran him in 40-yard sprints.

“Charles at 207 pound ran a 4.43 and Ike at 195 pounds came in at 4.39,’’ Bartel recalls.

Tillman went to the Bears in the second round of the 2003 draft with the 35th pick.

Pittsburgh scooped up Taylor in the fourth round as the 125th pick.

Bartel met with Taylor briefly at the Steelers' hotel on Thursday.

“We hugged. It was the first time I’ve seen him in seven years,’’ Bartel said. “I’m really proud of him.’’

Been saying that since he was drafted. Now I have confirmation.

If he continues the "Swagin BS", I'll continue pulling against him. Go Packers.

However 'misguided' he seems when claiming Swagger U, he was one of us and I'll root for him. I still want the Packers to win, but I don't hold Ike in contempt like some of you do.
