Tracking the Preaux Career of Ike Taylor

I know Taylor doesn't do anything to help promote the university... but I love comments like this:

Taylor said he’s still friends with ex-teammate Santonio Holmes, but that when Holmes is in a Jets uniform on Sunday, Taylor plans to put a hurting on him.

“I’m going to try to be as disrespectful as possible once we get between those white lines,” Taylor told the New York Post. “Friendship doesn’t enter into it then.”

Taylor also indicated that if he hurts Holmes in the process of being disrespectful, he won’t feel bad about it.

“I’m not going to hesitate to lay him out,” Taylor said. “No question at all. You know why? Because he ain’t going to hesitate to crack on me if he gets a chance.”

Did anyone listen to Jim Rome today? He interviewed Ike Taylor. Rome said that he had 2 degrees, one from the University of Louisiana Lafayette and one from Swaggin U - what is that all about? Ike said nothing about UL. Just said that Swaggin U is a respect kind of thing because no one expected him to make it in the NFL, much less be around for 8 years and doing what he has done. Did he complete his degree at UL? Must have missed a few English classes. Maybe Swaggin U teaches ebonics.

Apparently you can get a degree without having much of a memory. He forgets if B&B ( Bustle & Bartel ) hadn't given him an attitude adjustment and moved him from forgotten running back over to the UL defensive backfield he would have never enrolled at Swaggin-U.

He also forgets if Charles Tillman hadn't been a monster back there (100 tackles) to cover for him early, Ivan would have had no time to learn the position and would have been swamped at the Swamp.

If not for those factors he would be a grad of quicksand U.

Still Ike is not alone, a lot of people forget the big breaks they got and tend to give themselves undue credit, for their every success. So I forgive him.

This guy cares to much about what people think, which is why he won't claim UL until UL is 10-2 and ranked in the top 25. Then he'll claim it and call it the house that Ike built.

I think this hits the nail on the head. I could see how a highschooler would think this is cool... but to say it every single time? Come on, Ike. Claim your school like the rest of the adults.

I don't care what he says when he gets introduced, he still represents this university and his success helps UL football. Coach Hud can tell a DB recruit that Charles Tillman, Ike Taylor, Antwan Spann, Kyries Hebert and CC Brown all played here and made it to the NFL. That is all that matters, not Swaggin. It is obvious that he will not change that, so we shouldn't worry about it.

Besides he still comes back to help out time to time.
