An update. The Lafayette High Band has made it to the FINALS of the Bands of America Competition in Indianapolis. They are one of 12 bands IN THE UNITED STATES still competing!!! They will be performing at 7:45 P.M. this evening.

    Good luck to them.

Wow. Ok, who died and made YOU an administrator?? Seriously, I feel you pain (sic), but many Lafayette High band members AND Acadiana High band members (even a Jesuit High School band member!) have become members of POA over the years and, as I've stated previously, LHS's band director and I played together in POA, so of course I appreciate where he's been able to take that program. I also remember when (then) Mr. Waguespack was the director at Acadiana and their band was best known for the "Bottle Dance".

Hava Nagila baby... an opposing bands' worst nightmare. I have a lot of respect for the LHS band. The guy I share season football tickets with has a son in the LHS band.

They came out 12th in the finals. One of the soloists bumped the microphone and I think they got a pretty good hit for that. (It reverberated though the entire dome.) I'm sure the young man is feeling pretty bad right now.

That may be, but considering where they came from and how many bands participated in that competition, they have absolutely NOTHING to hang their heads about. CONGRATULATIONS TO SCOTTY WALKER AND LHS BAND!!!
