Mike, its a great start over for Marlin and staff. No doubt. I have been one of those guys that has been critical of Marlin's ability, or inability, to recruit and maintain players here so I will be watching with great curiosity to see what happens. Yes, it does appear that this is a solid class but as you also mentioned, these kids have to come in here and improve and show that they belong. Also, the only knock is that several are JUCO or transfers for which we will have for a short period of time. Hopefully we were able to get a few kids that could help be a cornerstone for a nucleus of a solid team for several years to come.
We have 3 of the best high school players in the state coming in as freshman next year. I would say overall we have pretty good balance on the team for 2014-15. Who knows what that will bring after next years season.
I originally liked the hire of Shawn Forrest but soon realized that he was just looking for his next job. Anyway, I like what we have returning and like what we have coming in to the program.
Geaux Cajuns!
Plus Wright has three years. So I agree a great balance, and we will do well in the fall. I am very confident in that.
Y'all can count me in as a negative Nelly when it appeared Marlin was always at odds with too many players, and was consistently losing recruiting battles to just about every non P5 school of worth.
Amazing what EP & Long did for Marlin and UL. Too bad not enough fans opted to see one of the great players in UL history his last two seasons.
I tell you there was a time mid-season that I thought I was too close to the program and was wondering if I was blindly following. Well all I can say now is if you want to follow them now or have been following, I don't care, lets bring back UL basketball.
Who picked the coaches to create the problem Boomer? You gotta take the bad with the good.
That coach rumored to be a cancer causer is still employed by others right? I guess his lack of loyalty was not a drawback.
You look it up, tired of being your librarian.
You would think someone as bad as that would never be on a staff again in any capacity.
A major part of being a quality head coach is making hires, bringing in talent, and on court decisions. Just about every head coach knows very well the X's & O's and the fundamentals of playing the game. What separates is hires, talent, and in game decisions.
