Florida State defeats Notre Dame 3-1 and likely passes the Cajuns in the RPI rankings (pending the results of both teams' opponents and how the RPI bonuses finish).

Oklahoma leads Oklahoma State 5-4 T6th in Stillwater. They play one more game tomorrow.

It is good that Oklahoma beat Ok St, because we played 3 and won 2 against Oklahoma, right?

We are fighting Oklahoma for national seed. Catch 22 it seems.

They will find a reason to deny us the national seed. I'm over it already.

We'll be a #9 seed and romp over LSu and Baylor to OKC.

I can see something really dumb happening like

    8 - Oklahoma
    9 - Louisiana

Where they'll say "what a great potential rematch in a super where Louisiana-Lafayette took 2 of 3 at home earlier this year"

I am not concerned about finishing outside of the Top 8 RPI now ... especially if Oklahoma loses tomorrow. So, we want to ensure that the selection committee has even less reason to give Oklahoma a national seed over Louisiana. It would be quite unfair ... as the Cajuns have them beat on all the important resume points. But I want to give them less reason to screw it up. Go Oklahoma State Cowboys!

I do think the committee will give Arizona State a Top 8 seed over the Cajuns. I also think it is likely Florida State has a spot as well. So, I think the Cajuns are likely fighting for the #8 seed ... quite possibly with the #7 RPI ranking (I need to tabulate the results from tonight ... still playing).

Michigan is in a dogfight with Minnesota right now ... 2-2 T7th with Michigan batting. Michigan winning would help.

How do you figure Baylor? They will not be a Top 8 National Seed (in Softball, there are 16 National Seeds ... unlike baseball where there are 8 National Seeds) and will host their own regional.

    I wasn't thinking clearly.

PS I know what it felt like when the #4 team in America got what their AD said was "about the right seed."

I'm just not getting my hopes up.

    Surprise me.

EDIT: Updated to include the McNeese State loss to Northwestern State completed the morning of 5/11.

Here is a breakdown of the Cajuns' RPI ...

These are the numbers through 5/4 ...

    WP: .84694
    OWP: .59584
    OOWP: .54290
    --
    RPI: .64538 (Ranked #6)
    RPI Bonus: .02240
    --
    Adjusted RPI: .66778 (Ranked #6)

The following is a very close estimation through the games of Saturday 5/10. It includes a completely accurate WP and OWP ... along with a very close OOWP. The OOWP is the accurate OOWP from 5/4 plus up to date OOWP contributions from ULM, WKU, and South Alabama.

    WP: .83962
    OWP: .60101
    OOWP: .54290 (estimated)
    --
    RPI: .64611
RPI Bonus: .0224 (this could change ... positive or negative ... today and/or tomorrow)
    --
    Adjusted RPI: .66851

An Adjusted RPI of .66851 should be good enough for at least the #7 RPI ranking (likely #7) ... and could possibly finish ahead of Florida State at #6.

Of course, the RPI bonuses could have shifted today and/or tomorrow. You want to cheer for the teams I outlined in an earlier post ... in addition to our opponents. We want Oklahoma State to knock off Oklahoma tomorrow. We also want Baylor to defeat Texas ... but it is not a big deal if Texas wins.
