HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - The bulk and power displayed by transfer Jeremy Barr during offseason workouts helped UL coach Robert Lee fill the first spot in his starting lineup for the 2008-09 season.
Barr joins the Ragin' Cajuns after averaging 5.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game last season at San Jacinto (Texas) College. While those numbers hardly jump off the stat sheet, the 6-foot-9, 260-pound center from the Bahamas provides an inside presence UL lacked last season. He has also quickly emerged as a team leader.
"The only guy I know at this moment that will be starting for this basketball team is Jeremy Barr," Lee said at Sun Belt Basketball Tip-Off on Monday night. "Other than that, it's probably a toss-up because we have so many guys that really compete hard against one another."
