Montgomery's big claim to fame is that it is home to Bassmasters and Buckmasters, along with plants that build Asian cars. That being said, it is not a bad place. It isn't New Orleans, but then it's not Shreveport, either.

I have friends there, but I never bothered to ask what the restaurants, etc. are like.

If staying at the motel 6 & eating at Cracker Barrel are the non football highlights of your bowl trip. You could be a redneck. If you think the New Orleans bowl is boring and would rather travel to Montgomery, Mobile, Or Shreveport? Here's your sign.

Well, for starters, while New Orleans is known as the Crescent City Montgomery us known as "The Gump" according to Wikipedia. They have a civil tights museum, Hank Williams museum and the Alabama Shakespeare Festival (Hamlet meets Deliverence..."To squeal like a pig or not to squeal like a pig. That is the question"

Maxwell Air Force base is located there so you should be able to locate a good amount of tattoo parlors, bars, hourly motels and rent-to-own companionship.

Hold up now. The Hank Williams museum? That ought to be worth at least thirty to forty five minutes. So they don't have like a do it yourself diamond mine, or a petrified forest, the world's biggest ball of yarn? Stuff like that? Is there a major highway through the town? I'll bet there's a Stuckey's there somewhere & y'all are just not talking about it because of jealousy.

Interstate's 65 & 85 meet there. I'll leave it up to you to classify if that's major or not.

. Wish I could take credit for intentionally providing an opening for J1M and a discussion of his thongs but I have to blame that on fat finger typing.

Y'all are wrong. The biggest claim to fame for Montgomery is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selma_t...gomery_marches

I get the creeps just driving though the outskirts. Always get my gas and food about ten miles South just to avoid stopping there. Mrs. Express and I had to spend the night there one night and it was not nice.

One more thing the bowl stadium is NOT nice.

A tights museum in Montgomery, AL is just a historical evolutionary display of Bubba and his 3 long johns. Wherever Ragin Jazz and I end up in bowl season is where the spectacular modern display of tights will meet your erotic fantasies of ocular cavity (thanks Hawk) pleasures.
