Google is testing a new feature in Chrome for Mac that will let Chrome apps register in OS X’s file associations to let you open files directly, as spotted by Engadget. The feature is currently available in Chrome Canary once you enable the following flag: chrome://flags/#enable-apps-file-associations. Google plans to add this type of file integration to Windows and Linux as well, but it has hit some snags. Windows, for instance, doesn’t detect specific_Chrome apps, instead labeling them all as Google Chrome.
