He wants to play...and coaching up younger players in his same position will not help him accomplish that goal. That isn't just NFL players...human beings are like that. We are jealous, petty creatures.

Look I didn't think Jared Allen possibly coming to the Seahawks was gonna help Bruce Irvin learn the mystical ways of the pass rush. It was just a guy on his last go around trying to make some more money. Please don't think Champ Bailey gives a rats ___ about the younger corners on the Saints team...dude is trying to get two more years of paychecks.
So will he practice alone? Will he eat in the corner? He is gonna take his own plane on road trips? He won't talk to anyone at practice? In the middle of the game he won't tell the CB opposite him what he is seeing? Right, as usual you go over board on everything. The guy isnt gonna be holding a clipboard and whistle but if you think young guys aren't gonna learn from him you are delusional. Maybe you are a jealous petty little creature. Drew Brees is trying to keep getting paid also, but dont you think griffin and mccown are learning from him while sitting in position meetings? Young guys learn from veterans all the time, whether the veterans want to teach or not.

And Corey White? He's improved, but no matter what, he is the weak link on the field whenever he's out there.

What game was it last year that Greer had to leave and White got embarrassed? Patriots I think.

After the first round cover guys, there is a huge drop off. I'd actually argue Roby from OSU is a 2nd round talent. No where near Gilbert, Verret and Dennard.
Dude hes not just a fast receiver! I dont think you know enough abt him. He was the belitnikoff award runner up 2 years ago and won it last year. He is an absolute homerun threat regardless where he's lined up! And the kid has a high football IQ. And youre making the assumption that we didnt need to trade up for him....how do you know? They will pick up another corner in the draft. Brees is in desperate need of a guy like cooks. Defenses will be terrified of this offense! He is the missing piece they needed. Theres a reason they traded up.....payton made SURE they didnt lose him to someone else! Our defense will be fine.

Not to mention that you can make up cool stuff with a name like "Cooks". "Cooks catches batters and fries for another juicy end zone treat!" "Cooks shakes and bakes and takes the biscuit to the house!" "Cooks lights up the burners and roasts that __________!"

Typical homer. Old guys teaching young guys is the biggest misconception in the history of sports. Go watch Hard Knocks on HBO...go to Training Camp...the veterans come to work...and then they go home. All they care about is their check. As would you if you played football for a living. This tutorship you think happens isn't happening. Bailey wants to start...not babysit. I'm sure you think the Jets signed Michael Vick to teach Geno Smith the finer points of being a dual threat quarterback. Once again...you fail to look at the reality of the situation and think everything is puppy dogs and rainbows.

So when they are sitting in position meetings with all the cb's...he just won't say anything? When they are discussing coverages he will keep his mouth ____ to secure his spot? That's how you see it because you are insecure, 12 time pro bowlers aren't insecure. Young guys will learn from him wether champ bailey liked it or not. They will see how he works, see how he practices, see how he breaks down film. If the young wants to learn, he will. You hear veteran teaching young and think he is in front of the class asking questions. Young guys including Lewis will learn just from him being there. Bailey wants a ring, it's not all about the money, we signed him for a sack of oysters and year free worth of jimmy johns. It's nothing about being a homer, if you think the guys around Jared Allen won't learn from him just bring around him, you are wrong. The guys on the OL across from him will learn from him too. Wanna talk typical? You watch a couple episodes of hard knocks and now you are an nfl veteran. I learn from people all the time, doesn't mean they are going out of their way to teach me.

I think he can pass on a few tricks of the trade, but I agree, the whole "veteran player/coach" thing gets way overhyped by fans. We signed him to play. He's not a #1 anymore by a long shot, but I think he can be successful to a degree as a #2/nickel corner. Not expecting him to be an All Pro, but he can be a decent starter. He's not costing much at all and he's at least as good as the street free agents we had at the end of last year as a necessity due to injury.

That's a realistic view of the situation.

It wasn't "puppy dogs and rainbows"... it had more of a "good loyal mutt and a partly cloudy with a few rays of sunshine" feel to it.

You see the NFL as Friday Night Lights...buddy it ain't like that. It's....work. And each and every one of us that has worked a real job know that there are times when it pays to come in...do your job...and go home. We gain nothing from helping people in our same position to better themselves other than to give them an advantage over us. It's not being insecure...it's being a realist.

No you are insecure, I'm confident in the fact I can teach people what I know but they won't replace me. You can know what I know but I will always be better. The fact that I'm willing to share knowledge will always make me better than the insecure, jealous hater. You have actually proven how insecure you are numerous times on here. Teams would never bring in veterans if there wasn't a consolation prize of leadership and work ethic that rubs off on those around them. It's obvious Bailey's best playing days are behind him.
