Thread: NFL Draft

  1. #1

    Default NFL Draft

They just compared the CB drafted by the Bears to Charles Tillman and then before the Steelers made the next selection, mentioned Ike Taylor.

Pretty cool to hear two former Cajun players within about a minute of each other.

Saints trade up to the 20th pick.

  3. Default Re: NFL Draft

To take a 5'9" WR. Lost a third rounder, where we've made a living.. dumb

Not just any 5'9" WR. Think of a combine Sproles and Moore in one player! Ran a 4.3 forty. Fastest player in the draft.

    I like the pick

If I were a betting man, I'd put my money on Johnny Football NOT being picked in first round, maybe not until 3rd.

He's a Sproles replacement. Brees had a tendency to rely on him too much and made the offense stagnant. Not saying he wasn't valueable, but Cooks (or a player like him) will always be available later in the draft. There is some serious talent in much needed positions for the Saints, and they flat out blew that pick. You never trade up to get a WR, especially late in the 1st.

Earned 100k from some sports apparel company for being fastest man. Wonder which one...lol!

    I disagree. Good pick.

This is a player who can take the top off the coverage for Colston & Graham, can take a short pass the distance, and can be your return man. I'm not normally a WR in the first round guy, but I think it can turn out to be a great pick. Teams were crowding the short pass game against the Saints last year as we had no consistent deep threat. I don't think Meachem scares anyone any more. I do wonder what this might mean for Joe Morgan.

He reminds me of a young Steve Smith

I understand those points, and you're especially right about needing a legit deep threat. But there are a litany of receivers in this draft (and usually are) that can accomplish that. Hell, Joe Morgan was an undrafted free agent.
