Ingram hasn't been a bust, he just hasn't been a Pro Bowler. He gets a negative label here because of his Alabama connection and the fact that we just LOVE our underdogs (our fanbase drools over Pierre Thomas, Khiry Robinson, Tavaris Cadet, etc. and slight anyone that takes time away from them like Bush, Ingram, et al), but he's a solid pro running back that's been on a very solid upward trajectory since he got here. I won't argue with anyone that thinks we shouldn't have traded up for him. In today's NFL, the value of runners is way down. But it's not like we drafted KiJana Carter or Lawrence Phillips anything either, and some people act like that's the case when it comes to Ingram.

Not only did we trade up to get him, remember who we passed on?! This front office has gotten it right pretty often, but they've had their share of big whiffs as well.

I understand WR is a need, but c'mon guys, they found Lance Moore in a pile of throw always. Still have corner stones in Stills and Colston. (What's Colston, 30? Middle of his prime) As was said earlier, we find UDFAs better than anyone. Dennard is an elite defensive talent.

Cooks is a fine player. We just didn't need to trade up for him, and I feel like cornerback was the immediate need.
Colston is 30 which is where WR's start going downhill. He's missed games the last 2 years
Stills is a nice player that I like a lot
Meachem is a 300 yd a season guy and is 29
Toon is still a question mark. Maybe a future Colston replacement in terms of body type
Morgan has been injured 2/3 years this time with an ACL tear

That's like 1.5 receivers you can count on every week. I dont think having 2 smaller guys is a bad thing. We won a SB with Henderson/Meachem and these are similar and hopefully even more productive. I think Cooks fills multiple needs for the team at KR/PR and replacing many of Sproles' touches.

CB and WR were very close to equal needs. When we traded up I was hoping it was either Cooks or Dennard. I dont disregard those who say CB was a bigger need at all because it is a legitimate need. I just think we can still find legit options in the early/mid rounds. We have a few really nice safeties that Ryan can package similar to what he did last year and only need 2 CB's on the field (Vaccaro to nickel at times.) I still have concerns about the CB depth though since we seem to lose 2-3 every year to injury. I'm hoping it gets addressed next round

I think that is the first time I have heard Mark Ingram and the words upward trajectory concerning his pro career.

Like every offensive player taken in every draft. Look, the kid could work out or he could be a bust.

But, let's be honest . . . you were going to bash whoever the Saints took

If this guy is that dynamic, do we really want to risk injury at KR/PR? I dunno..

The pundits seem to think that the secondary talent in round 2 is still deep, so hopefully we can find a gem. I personally feel like there was a huge drop off after the first 3 CBs taken.

If it was a good pick...I would say it was a good pick. But it wasn't.

Bush and Sproles were both considered our dynamic players and both took returns. Harvin, Hester, Cordarrelle Patterson, Edelman, Patrick Peterson, Tavon Austin. All considered very important/valuable WR's (or CB for Peterson) that are allowed to take KR/PR's. He was drafted to be a multifaceted weapon, I say let him go for it.

    No, you wouldn't.

If we can get jean baptiste or McGill in the 2nd round, I'll be satisfied. We need a big CB considering the monster WR's our division has/just acquired. Jones/white. Jackson/Evans. Benjamin/lafell. That's a lot of big WR's

And watching 45 year old Champ Bailey trying to cover corners with a cane isn't optimal.
