Perfect Game: Regional Projections (05/08/2014)

I don't want to sell out our games with LSU fans. I want someone else for regionals, and someone else for Supers. I don't want them anywhere near here... and it's not because I'm scared. I want CAJUN NATION to feel at home without LSU BANDWAGON antics.

If you want to be the best, then you have to beat the best! I want to win no matter whom the opponent, but beating a national power in the same state can only help your program in recruiting. I don't need to have LSU as an opponent to enjoy the regional, but it certainly would be enjoyable knocking them out of the NCAA Field!

The Rice regional would be absolutely Brutal….

I think this regional would be optimal. Houston has a very solid pitching staff but not great swingers and only above average fielders…. Kentucky has a bad bad man named AJ Reed who both pitches and hits at an extremely elite level. Let Houston go toe to toe with AJ Reed in game one, then both teams are significantly weaker after game 1, whereas we don't have much drop off between Aut, Baranik and Boutte. I would like our chances in this regional…

Kentucky is not a #3 seed. They are a #2 seed at this point. AJ Reed will be the National Player of the Year.

Ok, then replace Houston with Kentucky, give us a weaker #3 seed, and I'd still love it. Kentucky can swing the bats, but due to their weak pitching staff (outside of Reed) I'd love to have them in our regional knowing they couldn't afford to save Reed for a potential game against us.

My point was merely with the projections ... that you would not see both Houston and Kentucky in the same regional grouped with some other #1 seed.

That said, Kentucky can play and is quite dangerous. I have seem them on TV several times this season. They have some nice series wins this year and have enough pitching to win a regional (not predicting such, just that they are more than capable). Their offense is explosive. I can think of some other #2 seeds I would rather have.

As for series wins by Kentucky ...

at Texas A&M

... along with midweek wins over Virginia, Louisville (2), and Old Dominion.

Keep in mind you'd probably only have about 200 tickets provided for the visitor in a SR scenario.

Yes, 200 is for a regional (three teams other than the host team).

I stopped by tigerdropping (lord, I apologize, and all them pygmies) and thought it was funny that they were saying they'd probably only get 800 tickets for a super regional at our place.
