LOUISIANA La. — The preseason scouting report on Louisiana’s baseball team called for solid pitching.

Florida International, the Sun Belt Conference and Easter weekend fans now know why after the Cajuns took two of three games over previously league-leading FIU over the past weekend.

In three games, Cajun pitchers allowed only six runs and 20 hits while striking out 27 Golden Panther batters. The staff got complete-game wins from Jordy Templet and Austin Faught on Saturday and Sunday, and Friday starter Kevin Ardoin had a solid eight-inning outing despite a 5-1 loss.

“When we started the season, we thought we had this kind of pitching staff,” said Cajun head coach Tony Robichaux. “We got bruised and beat up early, forgot how to pitch, forgot how to hit, forgot how to field. Now I think we’re starting to play the game a little bit better and having fun playing the game.”
