I bet many cajun fans don't realize how significant Williams coming on board with us is. We are getting a guy who has played significant minutes in one of the major conferences in America. He will go right into Bryant Mbamalu's spot and I think he will flourish in Coach Marlin's system. Bryant was a player I greatly admired due to the effort he put in towards making himself a D1 player. However his size at times worked against him when he drove to the basket. He had become very good at faking a shot and taking a bounce into the lane. Williams can do the same but instead of a guy 6'2" doing so, it will be a 6'5" guy and he will finish a lot of those plays with dunks. With a guy with experience in that slot, we will have the luxury of bringing Jonathon Stove along slowly. Stove will be a good player for us but you always wonder how quickly a pure freshman will be able to contribute for us. Men's basketball is the 2nd most important sport in the collegiate ranks in terms of publicity it can bring to your school and it can bring you the most money due to the NCAA tournament deal. This move may allow us to compete once again to get to the Big Dance. We keep doing that regularly and we will eventually have success there. This news should bring smiles to all Cajun fans regardless of how much attention they pay to basketball.

Awesome simply awesome! Now a guard and recruiting is done and UL should have one heck of a tournament bound team next season!!!!

JJ at the 4 or 5 if he slims down a little. That's a big IF. ?????

JJ can be real good if he losses some weight

Devonta Walker, the JC forward we signed back in April will likely be the other starter. Shepherd will play point while Rimmer will run at the No. 2 spot. Another point guard will help as both Register and Brown (bench guards) are more off guards that point guys. In a pinch, Rimmer and Brown can handle the ball.
