    looks better to me than

    12-6 vs RPI top 25
    3-0 vs RPI 26-50

Hopefully Brian can weigh in. If we had even gone 1-1 against Texas then we would want them there for that RPI bonus, but not getting a win against them results in no bonus either way (if I understand correctly).
Given that the Cajuns are in strong contention for a national seed, a better record vs. RPI Top 25 will be more important since this would be their peer group. But they will also be looking closely at the RPI Top 50 ... which is unchanged in this scenario ... but the selection committee will specifically see the record vs. 26-50.

I think the Cajuns are looking good for a national seed. As long as they do not tank the SBC Tournament (and the new format really helps), I expect the Cajuns to finish Top 8 in RPI and have a chance at holding onto #6. Hopefully the Cajuns get to play ... and beat ... South Alabama twice.

So the top 25 teams count twice again as 'top 50' rather than 26-50?

No. The Top 25 is simply included as part of the Top 50. I was simply saying that whether Texas is in the Top 25 or not ... our record vs. Top 50 is unchanged. But they will see the 2-3 record vs. RPI 26-50 on the Nitty Gritty and other selection committee reports.

I don't think we ever stopped pulling against LSU in softball.

You can pull against whomever you like ... though I am not sure why you mentioned LSU softball. LSU losing in baseball will harm the Cajuns' RPI modestly.

    Except against Alabama.

No, precisely what I said is true. LSU losing (in and of itself) against anyone will hurt the Cajuns' RPI. It is just that in the case of Alabama vs. LSU, Alabama winning will more than offset the damage of LSU losing.
