Well, this week's Bottom 10 is out and UNT is #1. I feel for them given the success they had in recent years. And, if you go to their Scout forum site, you will find things pretty gloomy over there from lack of funding, to replacing their coach, to the student newspaper not supporting their new football stadium, to whether they should drop down to 1AA. UNT is going through what UL has endured for the past 10 years. We continued to perservere and now things appear to be turning in our favor. I wish them luck in getting things turned around as well, starting next week.
The Bottom 10 inspirational thoughts of the week:
Eyes over the city
rise up from your soul
They hang over the streets at night
Brought on by the cold
We live with the numbers
Mining a dream for the same old song
What hope for the turning
If everything you know is wrong
-- "The Turning," Oasis
Hope for the turning is a weekly sentiment for the teams in the Bottom 10. It even works for some of them. Army, Virginia, Eastern Michigan and UCF won to earn at least a week off.
The others still have hope for the turning -- even North Texas and Washington. But for now, it's the same old song for the Mean Green and Huskies, who are the only remaining winless FBS teams.
Oasis released "Dig Out Your Soul" on Tuesday. "There are other good bands," Liam Gallager told USA Today. "They're not as good as Oasis." There are other deserving bands in the latest Bottom 10, too. But they're not as deserving of the top two spots as UNT and U-Dub.
They are waiting for the turning in Lincoln, Neb., too. Missouri crushed Nebraska 52-17, delivering the Cornhuskers their most lopsided home loss in 53 years. One thing the Huskers don't have to wait for is a spot in the highly coveted No. 5 spot.
We'll let songs from the new Oasis release carry us through the Week 6 Bottom 10 for 2008.
This week's Bottom 10 pillow fight of the week is Ohio at Kent State.

RANK TEAM RECORD COMMENT
1. North Texas 0-5 "Ain't Got Nothin'": The Mean Green ain't got wins. They ain't got much offense (No. 118 in scoring). They ain't got much defense (No. 119 in scoring D).
2. Washington 0-5 "I'm Outta Time": The Huskies are 11-30 overall and 2-23 in Pac-10 play under Tyrone Willingham. Time isn't on Ty's side in Seattle.
3. Washington State 1-5 "The Nature of Reality": The Cougars' only win is over FCS Portland State. Considering the nature of football in the Apple State, it could be worse (see above).
4. Idaho 1-5 "Bag It Up": Outside of a win over FCS Idaho State, the Vandals have been bagged up and tossed around like a sack of Idaho potatoes.
5. Nebraska 3-2 "The Turning": The Huskers suffered their most lopsided home loss in 53 years on Saturday. Turning them right-side up will take some time.
6. San Diego State 1-4 "Waiting For The Rapture": Besides the visit from Idaho, things have been tough for the Aztecs. Football ecstasy appears to be a long way off for SDSU.
7. Utah State 1-4 "To Be Where There's Life": For the Aggies, that was when Idaho appeared on the schedule. Otherwise, the fields have proven to be infertile.
8. SMU 1-5 "Falling Down": The Ponies keep falling down, especially on defense. SMU is giving up 41.3 points per game.
9. Syracuse 1-4 "I'm Outta Time": Hope you liked this tune earlier. The Orange are 2-20 in Big East games under Greg Robinson. Time isn't on Greg's side, either.
10. UAB 1-5 "The Shock Of The Lightning": Lightning struck for the Blazers against FCS Alabama State, but the odds of lightning striking the same place twice are shockingly high.
Waiting list: Florida Atlantic (1-4), Kent State (1-5), Louisiana-Monroe (1-4), Mississippi State (1-4), Miami (Ohio) (1-4), Ohio (1-5), Rutgers (1-4), Toledo (1-4).
