LAFAYETTE — Work on new end zone seating at Cajun Field is on track to be finished in time for the Ragin’ Cajuns football team’s home opener against the Southern University Jaguars at the end of August, officials say.

Wet and freezing weather this winter made for a difficult start, but the work is moving ahead to meet the Aug. 30 deadline for the first home game of the football season, said William Crist, the University of Louisiana physical plant director.

" ... is the first of a trio of $21 million in construction projects targeting athletic facility improvements. The projects are funded by a combination of sources, including dedicated student fees and university revenues."

    Well, that was a surprise!

There are no University funds going to this project. Student "Self Assessed" Fee's, RCAF monies, Donations, and Bonded Monies! The University can if they so choose use up to 3% of University budgeted monies per STATE LAW! Dr T-Joe Savoie was the President who spearheaded getting it UNFROZEN at 1% since back in the 80's!

Marsha, Marsha, Marsha, when was there a student assessment for the stadium?

I think you grabbed the wrong data pack.

Wet and freezing conditions didn't delay the start of construction. The fact that construction documents weren't done until March delayed the start.

Use this article as an example of why just about every article you ever read is riddled with inaccuracies. Long ago, a businessman in Lafayette was indicted for some business improprieties. I knew the details very well. Despite him being guilty, the DA wrote no less than 30 things that were very inaccurate over the stretch of 5 or 6 articles. When you personally know the subject, you'll see what I'm talking about. But don't dare try to correct some jackleg that believes everything he reads. That includes what a professor says, a "research study claims" and more. It pays to ask questions and force people that think they're informed to be excruciatingly accurate.

I suppose few will care that this article is misleading regarding the funding behind our athletic facilities. But, watch how some pseudo intellectual will eventually climb out of his incestuously inbred information vacuum and attempt to enlighten the world with his shallow view of the topic.
