Any word yet on "The Tigue"?

Someone spoke too soon, people got excited, then nothing happened. Complaining then ensued because nothing has happened when someone said that something was going to happen.


Have we had something like this happen before? _

_ Well... I hate to bring this up again, but with baseball fall ball starting, I couldn't help but think about The Tigue. Any word on what will happen to our facility?

The announcement that was suppose to come "any day now" back in July seems WAY over due! _

Well with the price of steel cascading downward maybe we should lock up the dollars and see if we can get a little more stadium for the bucks.

No news? Then I am free to make suggestions.

Swap research land with Lamson park. Open a physical therapy research facility where Lady Cajun Park used to be.

Build a new baseball stadium on the swaped research park land.

Remodel The Tigue for Lady Cajun Softball.

Build Track and Soccer facilities where the excess land will exist between the 'new' Lady Cajun Park and Gator Cove.

Improve the identity of every sport in the process.

I'll continue the wishlist with the tearing down of Blackham and the barns and constructing a huge "Legacy Park" type complex of student housing thus solving our housing issues and bridging the gap between the main campus and the athletic campus in one move.

I love Blackham and it's a piece of UL History. But if we aren't going to ever play basketball in there again, that's not a bad idea at all! In fact we could build new updated dorm rooms for a limited number of students (aka Athletic dorms). Might be a little hike to main campus though......

Concerning blackham, there is/was a plaque on the outside about a. hays town having done a renovation or something like that. I can't remember what it said exactly and don't know if that would have any bearing on if it would ever be torn down.

A renovated tigue would be nice. How would the "roof people" watch the game if another stadium was built?

Funny. That's a very un-A Hays Town building.

But really I don't think it would serve the university to tear Blackham down. It's paid for and it still gets used constantly by the university and seems like it's rented out every other weekend. We need the extra $$$ that comes with it.

I could not disagree with you more.

The university doesn't need Blackham or it's barns.

The university needs:

NEW STUDENT HOUSING both for athletes and the general students in addition to renovating the current housing.

This is the perfect location for a large housing complex that could further bridge the gap between the athletic campus and the academic campus and bring the students more into the athletic family.

As it is, there is no more room on the academic campus for student housing. None. On-campus student housing is the biggest need this university has.

So, why would you be against something that would vault this university 20 years into the future?

It's the right thing to do, and it needs to be done as soon as possible.
