LOUISIANA La. — There’s a train building up momentum over there at Moore Field, and Louisiana’s baseball team is doing it at a pretty good time.

The Ragin’ Cajuns have won seven of their last 11 games, have recorded double-figure hits in seven straight contests and have worked themselves back into the Sun Belt Conference chase.

They’ll take a break from the league wars tonight in a 6:30 p.m. home contest against long-time rival Lamar, but a Sun Belt series against league-leading Florida International is right around the corner Friday in a big Easter weekend matchup at Moore Field.

Head coach Tony Robichaux, who won his 300th game in a Cajun uniform Saturday during Louisiana’s two-of-three series win over Arkansas-Little Rock, hopes his club can continue its recent hitting success.

“Our hitters have so much more confidence now,” he said even after his team fell 8-5 to UALR on Sunday. “We’re competing at the plate for nine innings now. When you add in pitching, hitting with confidence and playing good defense, you’re going to win some games.”
