Barbe's Fontenot signs with Cajuns Baseball

Kennon Fontenot, who had previously signed with Oklahoma St, signed with us today. He's a solid player for Barbe's football team (was QB) and baseball team and will now be a Cajun along with his teammate Gunner Leger next year

OSU recruiting coordinator Marty Lees on Fontenot: "Kennon is a very good athlete. As a two-sport athlete, he is also one of the top quarterbacks in the state of Louisiana. He plays shortstop at Barbe but is flexible and athletic enough to play anywhere in the infield. Kennon is a leader and has great knowledge of the game. We expect big things from him."

Question:

When trying to sign a two+ sports kid out of high school, how do you know what sport he is committed to? Do they make that verbally known? In this case, since he played both football (QB) and baseball, would a college try to recruit him to play football?

And for that matter, who was the last two sports star for UL in men's sports? Would Marlin, Hudspeth and Robichaux allow it?

I think if Des would have played any position besides qb he could have played baseball. Kind of hard to go through spring without your qb.

FANTASTIC!!...What great kids! Saw the interview of Fontenot on SOUND OFF 60 and he said he had interest from UL but decided on Oklahoma State...I sort of questioned that decision but am glad he decided on being RAGIN CAJUN
