Thread: Ragin' Cajuns Tennis Continues Good Play

  1. UL Tennis Ragin' Cajuns Tennis Continues Good Play

Louisiana’s men’s tennis team continued to look impressive in their fall season at the Baylor Invitational Sept. 26-28. The Ragin’ Cajuns finished eighth in the 20 team tournament that featured 16 players ranked in the Top 75 nationally. UL played tough all weekend and had four players reach the quarterfinals of their flight.

In flight A, Piotr Olechowski reached the quarterfinals and Javier Pulgar Garcia reached the quarterfinals of the consolation.

In flight B, Arlen Domoney made it to the semifinals and Yanick Mandel made it to the quarterfinals.

“Our team performed very well especially in flight B. This was a quality tournament with the number 1, 2, 6, 8 ranked players in the nation,” Coach Mark Jeffery said. “Our team is looking very strong and we should break into the rankings for the first time in many years by the end of the fall season.”

Up next for the Cajuns is a trip to the All-American Championships Oct. 4 in Tulsa, Okla. The Cajuns have three tournaments left in the fall season.

If I am not mistaken the Ragin' Cajuns were ranked in the low 40's as recently as 2 years ago. Then they went a season with no direct head coach.

Good to see them doing so well with a new coach.
