As to basketball arenas, the Cajundome is one of the better in the league. Both Troy and FAU are still in the same facilities that they were using when they were playing in D-II ball. Troy's is the worst of the two in my opinion as they haven't put much investment in that building since they moved up to D-I. There are high schools here in Lafayette with better gyms.
OTOH, Troy's moving into a new arena in the next two years that supposed to be similar to what UALR has on their campus. UALR has a really nice gym (seats about 7000). I've seen games in both Diddle Arena at WKU and the Murphy Center at MTSU back when both of those teams were in the OVC. The Cajundome compares well facility wise to both of those places.
I have no idea what UNO is going to with Lakefront Arena once they move down to D-III as it's about 3X the size of what you see on most campuses in that division.
I've not been to games at any of the other places in the league. I'd say the person who has the definitive opinion on this topic has to be the B.O.P. as he has to work in every place in the league for all three of the major sports.
The Cajundome is nowhere near the bottom of the conference. In my opinion, since the scoreboard and sound system upgrade, I would argue we have the best arena in the league. (And it holds 13,300 not 12,700) I tell my girlfriend everytime we go how impressive the Cajundome must be too recruits and current players. If I was a player, I would love for the Cajundome to be my home court.
Arkansas and k state need to be games to watch at the dome
I know the NFL doesn't allow viewings like that for whatever official reasons they give (but mostly because they don't get any money or ratings/ad revenue from that). They don't even allow large gatherings like that if they're free. I'd imagine the NCAA would operate the same way.
You know when I first read this thread I thought the same exact thing. I think it would be pretty cool to watch it outside at the Tigue because it doesn't seem like it would ever be booked for anything besides a camp here and there. The only problem I see with that is if the weather was bad.
