Yeah, we sit behind the goal on the 2nd level on that side and I can recall at least three games where the front row was opposing fans. I remember this because I made a comment about it and ushers never made them go to their correct seats.

It was the section right behind the opposing bench.
Ya the student section was fun to be in at the end of the year. I am trying to decide what is worse in the student section. Having a row of opposing visitors, or people who are well past their college years and sit on their hands the entire game sitting up close or anywhere in that section.
Just curious, Is this university money paying for the scoreboard.. how much does it cost?..
I'm the same way.
There definitely needs to be some sort of change in the way they run the student section. As it is, people buy General Admission tickets or 300 level tickets or whatever, and then go sit down there, knowing that it's General Admission seating. They'll be there with their kids/families, and then will complain when everyone starts standing and trying to get the crowd rowdy. To me, if someone is going to try to do something like that (try to get over by buying a cheap ticket and then sit close to the floor by getting into the student section), it's a pretty bold move to start complaining when students start acting like students. I know when I was a student, my step-dad and his son would occasionally be able to make a Saturday night game, and I would buy them escort students and they would sit with us. But, they knew what they were getting into and knew that if they didn't want to go through long periods of standing or whatever, then they could go sit somewhere else.
There needs to be some sort of notice posted, saying that the Student Section is NOT a General Admission area, and IF you choose to sit there, then you should expect to have to stand and cheer and make noise. It's not a place to bring a 5 year old, because he won't be able to see. Its not a place to bring a 70 year old who won't be able to stand the whole game. And if they're currently selling GA tickets to those sections, then they need to stop. By doing something like having a contest to Name the Student Section, it tells me that they're really trying to increase student attendance and student involvment in the game, and if so, then they need to be sure that it become a really rowdy place, and disallow people who are going to inhibit that rowdiness.
I actually like how in some game they pull the bleachers out behind the main entrance goal. I think it would be cool to make that the student section. That way when the opposing team is shooting a free throw our students are right there making noise behind the goal. It would also be easier to make sure it is a student only section being that it would have 2 entrances.
Also, I don't know how true it is but I like the idea of trying to sale tickets to the 1st and 2nd level only and only opening up the 3rd level when we have overflow. It would be much more intimidating and would look a lot better.
As for fan rowdiness and people inhibiting that rowdisness......What happen to the days where everyone was on their feet during big runs? I still remember the game last year when the chicken returned and he was struggling to get people on their feet. It was kind of embarassing. It's almost like the "rowdiness" left w/ the chicken.......
GOD I CAN'T WAIT FOR SOME CAJUN HOOPS!!!!!!!
Do yourself a favor and go to the next Cajun Bball game to see the sound and scoreboard upgrades!
I was also there tonight... and it was unbelievable. Very impressive to say the least. I never expected it to look that good, but the Cajundome looks like a completely different place and has a completely different environment now... it's amazing.
