The Cajundome is the best facility in the conference. I just don't like it for basketball. It's as big as rupp arena or the summit but only seats 11500 or so because it's wasted space for basketball games.

Louisiana athletic programs are the most underfunded of any State. The facilities from these schools reflect that. Of all Div. 1-A schools we are easily in the bottom 10. The fact that ULM and Tech are in the bottom 5 doesn't make me feel any better. You? _
Our football stadium is in bad need of a major overhaul. Google college stadiums and compare it to others. It is bad.

As to basketball arenas, the Cajundome is one of the better in the league. Both Troy and FAU are still in the same facilities that they were using when they were playing in D-II ball. Troy's is the worst of the two in my opinion as they haven't put much investment in that building since they moved up to D-I. There are high schools here in Lafayette with better gyms.

OTOH, Troy's moving into a new arena in the next two years that supposed to be similar to what UALR has on their campus. UALR has a really nice gym (seats about 7000). I've seen games in both Diddle Arena at WKU and the Murphy Center at MTSU back when both of those teams were in the OVC. The Cajundome compares well facility wise to both of those places.

I have no idea what UNO is going to with Lakefront Arena once they move down to D-III as it's about 3X the size of what you see on most campuses in that division.

I've not been to games at any of the other places in the league. I'd say the person who has the definitive opinion on this topic has to be the B.O.P. as he has to work in every place in the league for all three of the major sports.

Are you saying ULM has better facilities that US. You are way wrong there my friend. I have not seen FIU or Troy's and Middles Basketball arenas. I would put us in first place in Sunbelt.
I have seen ASU, TROY, MIDDLE, USA, ULM, UNT ( Football only)

The Cajundome is nowhere near the bottom of the conference. In my opinion, since the scoreboard and sound system upgrade, I would argue we have the best arena in the league. (And it holds 13,300 not 12,700) I tell my girlfriend everytime we go how impressive the Cajundome must be too recruits and current players. If I was a player, I would love for the Cajundome to be my home court.

I wish we could trade the Cajundome for the Lakefront. It is my favorite arena for basketball/concerts. I have not been since Katrina, but if the seating configuration is the same it's the best.

Why can't the cajundome pickup the away football games when there's no other event going on. For instance....we have a huge home opener in basketball Saturday. We need to get a crowd out there. If I'm in charge of the Cajundome, I would try and pick up the Cajun vs. Florida Atlantic game and play it on the new $5 million dollar jumbo. This will get people to the Dome to watch football and have a great early crowd for basketball. You can charge $8.00 for the basketball ticket and an additional $5 or so for the football game, serve concessions and beer throughout both and make a killing. I think we'd have a great turnout if the Cajundome looked into playing Cajun Football away games!!

Anyone have any stroke to get this done. I would pay $20.00 to watch the football game on the big jumbo!

Please give my your input, will this work?
    Whatever became of scotto_25's idea?

I know the NFL doesn't allow viewings like that for whatever official reasons they give (but mostly because they don't get any money or ratings/ad revenue from that). They don't even allow large gatherings like that if they're free. I'd imagine the NCAA would operate the same way.

You know when I first read this thread I thought the same exact thing. I think it would be pretty cool to watch it outside at the Tigue because it doesn't seem like it would ever be booked for anything besides a camp here and there. The only problem I see with that is if the weather was bad.

During March Madness they occasionally show some programs where their fans are packed into their home arenas watching their team play in the tourney on their own court big screen. I wonder how that is/was permissible?
