I assumed they were keeping him in because their pen is relatively weak. I thought about our game vs. Jackson state last year in the regional and I recall wondering "why don't they take their starting pitcher out?". Then they FINALLY took him out and I understood why (remember that bloodbath?). Obviously TXST's relievers were not THAT bad but based on the numbers my guess is they were playing for the W tonight. They must know that beating Baranik will be a monumental task.

    Just my humble opinion

Agree, ended up with multiple arms used. Expect double digit runs tomorrow night.

They're not all struggling at the same time though. It seems Tony has a depth of talent. But he has a problem most manager's would love to have but hate at the same time. He has a number of go to guys. But just because a guy is money tonight. Doesn't mean he's gonna be money tomorrow. Robe is going to have to become Captain Hook. And keep working the guy with the hot hand. He's just going to have to let the pitch count fall where it may from here on out. As soon as a guy starts to showing he's tired, he's going to have to be pulled for the fresh arm. It looks like two base runners is the key. As soon as a guy allows two base runners, he needs pulling in a tight game. Lasorda did this years ago with Hersheiser as his only super strong arm to guy with Valenzuela injured & won the title.

Tony, in my opinion, usually leaves pitchers in too long. I have always thought this. Before I get tarred and feathered, yes I realize Tony is a very good coach and yes hindsight is 20/20, blah blah blah. It's my only complaint about his coaching style and if I get proven wrong one day when he leaves a guy in who ends up getting out of a major jam in the post season, then I eat all the crow you guys can dish up.

Edit: rant resulted in a run on sentence

No Boomer, they do not hit the ball especially well. They upped their batting average to .284 as a team last night. The SBC April 25th official stats show them in 7th place with a team batting average of .253. They are also 8th in home run production, They are tied for third in triples with four other teams at nine. They are ninth in doubles. They are in eight place for base on balls.

There is not one metric that they are better than average as a hitting team. Individually they have nobody in the top ten batting average. Lastly they have nobody whose slugging percentage is top ten.

Our middle relief, and closers were not doing particularly well, and Austin is still rounding back into shape. On the other hand TXST does have much better pitching than most and have three individuals in the top ten ERA with sixty or more innings pitched.

Now I do listen to Coach Robe and he pretty much advised that we, as a team, would have to have good pitching to win the series because they do have good pitching. He expects our hitters to have a little harder time than normal, maybe a lots harder. You should listen to the Bitter show this morning around eight. He normally has Robe on going over the prior week, the Friday game, and even the expectations for the balance of the weekend.

You are not the only one that feels that way. But lately with the depth in the Ken he seems to be pulling guys coming out of the pen a little bit quicker. Or at least it has seemed that way to me this year.

I think that is a legit concern. I've also felt that way in the past. Tony is a GREAT manager that at times, uses his style of trial by fire.he know's more about the game than we do!

No one in the TxSt bullpen threw much. Goebel was out after nine pitches. Geisler threw 16, Boes threw 15. (Williams threw 117)

Neither Dylan Bein (who warmed up) nor their closer Hunter Lemke was used.

Their bullpen is in good shape.

(FYI, Plitt threw 30, Milhorn 31 and Wilson 27)

---I think your points do not lie---but against all our pitchers last night they looked pretty good ---the HR was massive and Granger is a stud---lol!!! Jay did point out that the top of their line up were some very tough outs!!!

There batting avgs are a little skewed, in conference they are hitting a lot better. They play a lot of really tough midweek games against good pitching texas, rice, houston, texas A&M.
