    Maybe she's going with the pre-loss excuse for a loss

    I'm no expert, but you have 2 aces and you have lost like 5 of the past nine games. Wouldn't you want to field your best team against a top 25 (have no idea how they got that @ 27-20) and low rpi team on a Wednesday ?

    Considering pitchers can go back to back days in softball this would be a no brainer on a Wednesday. Maybe she's going for the moral victory while protecting those precious ERAs of the pitchers that we blew up two weeks ago

    Probably because they have played the 2nd toughest schedule in the nation.

    Campbell came in to pitch the last two innings, still allowed 2 earned runs. I believe LSU had 9 hits off of her the first game this year. Maybe that was why, but they could have pitched the other stud.

    Using stud in talking about softball pitchers just doesn't seem correct.

    Wait, I did not see the USA vs LSU softball game that ended 6-1 LSU, but are you saying that USA did NOT throw either of their Studets? Wow, why?

    Good question. Stupid coach? Another thought. Has there ever been more of a "homer" announcer than Yvette Girouard? Listening to her, one would think LSU is the best softball team in the hisory of the sport and ever player on the team is an all American. I was so sickening I turned off the volume in the third inning.

    WP -> .81707 (#11)
    OWP -> .61488 (#12)
    OOWP -> .54469 (#28)
    SOS -> .59148 (#14)
    --
    Base RPI: .64788 (#6)
    RPI Bonus: .0168
    --
    Adjusted RPI: .66468 (#6)

    Given the above, we can project the impact of the remaining schedule. Assuming we play all eight remaining games … (2) games already played at Baylor, (3) vs. Texas-Arlington, and (3) vs. ULM …

    OWP of remaining games = .53960 * 8 games. Thus, even with Baylor, our remaining OWP does take a hit from the current .61488. However, assuming we go 6-0 in the last six games, our WP moves to .84694. I do not have remaining OOWP numbers yet, but let's use the current .54469 OOWP for now. This would give us …

    WP -> .84694
    OWP -> .60259 (fall of .01229)
    OOWP -> .54469 (keeping constant for now)
    --
    Base RPI -> .64920
    RPI Bonus -> .02240 (includes Baylor RPI bonus of .0056)
    --
    Adjusted RPI -> .67160

    An Adjusted RPI of .67160 puts us at #5 based on this week's RPI numbers. But keep in mind that our big conference competitors have a schedule advantage down the stretch that will help their numbers … it just depends on how many they win. Of course, we can be helped (or hurt) by how our opponents play down the stretch. As always, this assumes all other things being equal.
    As it turns out, the Cajuns were just able to hold onto that #5 spot (.67094) … a mere .00004 over #6 Oregon (.67090). Yes, that is a really really small margin. The good news is that there is a nice gap between #6 and #7 Missouri (.65802) … or .01292. And while holding off Oregon will be tough, #4 Georgia could falter (.67407) … only .00313 ahead of the Cajuns.
