However, what do you mean by the #4 team in the nation missing a national seed by a mile? If you are referring to the Cajuns in 2012, they had the #12 RPI in the country. Don't look at the polls. The selection committee goes by RPI even more than in baseball. In recent years, the national seeds have been exactly the Top 8 in RPI.

If that scenerio plays out, I'll take it!

(Assuming we stay in the top 8)

I'm beginning to get the picture that these baseball and softball selection committees have become lazy ***es in the last few years.

    Line em up. 1-8.

If they decide to use the logic that the RPI isn't the whole story to keep our girls out, I'm going to be sick to my stomach.

Yes ... the RPI has dominated for some time. You cannot change the rules during the game. We will be sick together.

I want them to finish Top 8 RPI to at minimum put the committee to the test. Beating Baylor in this second game will be big in helping to further the cause.

If we finish #5 RPI and they make us #9 seed, we can all stop hoping for a national seed for the rest of our lifetimes in any sport.

And that's what they'll do. Hope I'm pleasantly shocked.

Hopefully the rules committee will install the home/road penalty/bonus feature the rpi needs next year, along with other adjustments they need to make.

One big adjustment they did make (for 2013), which I argued through Coach Mike in the summer of 2012 (Coach Mike presented to the Softball Committee) ... was the elimination of the RPI bonuses for conference games. This was killing the Cajuns in 2012. The Cajuns would not be Top 10 in RPI this season if the 2012 system was in place ... probably more like 12->15.
