There is only 1 name that would fit. "The Rage Cage"
- No escaping the tie-in with the monicker Ragin' Cajuns
- In modern basketball 'CAGE' refers to the Basket.
- Historically (1910-1915) pro ball was played in a cage.
- To this day the players are known as Cagers.
The RAGE CAGE
"The Red"
Dildeaux's Dandies ?
What about the Red Dots? Wasn't there a tradition at UL with a student section that use to give the opposition hell? I believe their hey day was before my day. I do remember participating with reading a newspaper in the Cajundome when the other team came out on the court. I believe they were trying to revive the group when I was a student but it just didn't happen.
I am sure Red Dots was one of the names suggested. That name goes back to the mid 1980 teams of Dion Brown, Graylin Warner, and Alonzo Allen Those guys went to the NCAA tourney in their sophomore and junior years. Their senior year they went to the NIT Final Four at a time when it was still a well regarded tourney (less teams in the NCAA then).
THE DOME FOAMERS !!!!!
Story on the Red Dots. It was about a year before I was a student.
