I'm wondering if Milhorn has been a bull pen pitcher in the past (maybe at Arkansas)?

----Well this brings out the old coach in me---but do we have a coach down in the pen??? I know that Robe is our pitching coach but guys there are the days when a performer just doesn't have it--I know from kicking, passing, and jumping---for whatever reason it ain't there---So can a Bull pen catcher or a coach down there know and relate this ---the kid will lie because he wants in and will do his best to hide his lack of ability that day----but a catcher knows if he has the velocity and breaking stuff---been a long time since my baseball coaching days and just wondering!!! Young Billy ---you listening???
Wrong again. I said it was a team loss. There is plenty of blame to spread around. I never said the bullpen was blameless. We gave up five runs and lost a game on the road. We average 3.6 runs against and we gave up 1.4 runs above the average, losing by a run in a nine inning game. It is not a one inning game.
Very obviously the bullpen gave up most of those runs, but very obviously we scored well below our average output. Hence, the team loss. That you don't have the ability to recognize that mathematical fact is not my problem.
Quit posting while you are ahead. I don't think you understand pitchers have different levels of command, from day to day. Their age or college level makes no difference.
No personal connection to anyone-- just an old ex-pitcher who understands that you have your best stuff 1 out of every 4 times you go out-- maybe-- the other times you fight with what you have.
Just amazed at how quick the tide turns. Guess what? They may lose again before the end of the regular season--
someone gonna make an error-- give up a hit-- strike out.
Amazing how some "fans" turn on the players they are supposed to be supporting
I saw bases loaded in the 9th a ground ball hit dead center to 1st base, ball bobbled, tying run scored, 1 out at first. If that plays made at home and at 1st, that changes the whole complexity of the inning. Then the middle is not pinching for 2 and the last hit is fielded for an out. Balls where on the ground. No blame anywhere, Team loss. That's baseball.
Milhorn was a starter last year in juco--

A bump in the road. What we have is a pitching staff that has been shuffled due to (thankfully) minor injuries. As a result Tony is still mixing and matching to see where the best fits are when tourney time rolls around. Austin will definitely not be coming out of the pen but did this week. Major upgrade to the starting AND relief pitching when Wilson returns to the pen. Not sure where he will go with Milhorn but either way with he or Boutte you have a more than solid third starter and a more than solid reliever. The rest of the relievers can be spotted lefty/righty and pulled in a heartbeat if they appear off their game.
My point is that what we saw this last weekend will not be what we are seeing in late May and June and they will ALL be better for this experience. That we lose one from time to time is just the nature of growth
I'm cool with your opinion... I simply disagree. I don't think we're playing down to the competition. Our losses, including early on, were to average teams at best. Baseball has ebbs and flows. Our 2000 season went into a slump mid to late, and then cranked it up in post season. We are still in very fine shape. There is absolutely nothing to get wound up about IMO. We have never been the king of the hill, so I think too many folks are so in love with the hill top, they're consumed with it. Instead of worrying about the hill battle, I'm simply enjoying the greatness of this year, as I fantasize about how we'll fair postseason. Even if your naked eye has spotted something... I doubt it is anything more than a temporary blip on the screen.
