If this team only loses 5 more games and wins the conference tournament we will finish the season with 50 wins before selection day. No way we don't get a national seed.
That's wishful thinking. We are as high as we are right now for one reason. The 4 in the loss column. We start dropping games to sunbelt teams, we will fall out of national seed consideration. We don't have to sweep the rest of the weekends, but have to come close to it. stAte is the only team left on our schedule worth anything. I'd say dropping one there and possibly one at South is the most we can lose.

Every loss for us the rest of the way save for maybe Arkansas State is considered a "bad loss". So we need to dominate and close out the season without anymore bad losses to clinch that national seed. But...it's baseball...sometimes bad games happen. It's gonna be tough but if any team can do it...it's us.

Western Kentucky with a nice chance to get a quality win tonight at Indiana (#18). Through 7 innings, WKU is throwing a no hitter. No score going to the 8th. Western's best chance was lead-off double followed by single with runner thrown out at the plate in the top of the 7th...

Here's the deal & why this won't happen. What do all these games including Texas UTA tell you guys? It tells me that no one in the country, not even the other top teams have any better pitching than the Cajuns do even with the Cajuns resting two of their best arms for the past three weeks. Guys, Tony's laying in the weeds with this team. This team hasn't even been unleashed yet. Our best arms haven't trotted onto the mound in their proper order in several weeks & he's been able to develop young talent on the mound while just pistol whipping the competition. UNO was an aberation. We were piddling while they were playing their biggest game in the last ten years for them with the bad weather, & they got all the breaks & still barely won. I don't know if this team will lose another game this season. That's how good they are. This team is the best team in America & I'm totally convinced of that. They can do it all. They have it all. They will win it all. And when they do, they will deserve it all.

I be willing to make a bet if we only lose 4 games the rest of the season and win every conference series and the conference tournament we will be a national seed. Trust me the committee knows the rankings and just how good this team is. With only 4 loses this team will still be ranked in the top 4 or so. The other top teams will have their share of loses as no other team looks to be that dominate and they will move up and down the polls also. Under this curcumstanc no way the committe holds us out of a national seed.
I truely hope we only lose 4-5 games or less and we can all sit back with our popcorn on selection day and see what happens.

Call it an aberration or call it what you want I would be surprised if the Cajuns go undefeated the rest of the way. Yes this team is very good and I am very high them also but the game of baseball doesn't lend it self to long winning streaks. Bad teams can beat good teams on any given day. See UNO.
This team hasn't shown any weaknesses. The only thing we have yet to see this year is what can we do against top notch pitching. Mostly because we haven't played but one game against a top arm and that was a 2-0 win over Alabama, and that was a squeeze to win it. I do understand the greatest characteristic of this team is that they many different ways to win.
Pitching in the SBC is way down this year.
