Sorry Z, I wasn't paying attention as I was digging out the sunglasses for the upcoming season. That and working tons of hours at the utility so that I can afford the taxes on the dome foam.

For the most part, lights on within a day, trash picked up within the week.
Although work is a bear with the two storms. Put in 112 hours the week of Gustav. Season tickets for football and basketball are taken care of, but I
would give the cash back in order not to have a storm. I have a sister who lives in Houston but has power and no damage to her home.

Hope all went well for your family.

Sheesh, you guys in upper Lafayette always get top priority. My debris still hasn't been picked up!

Seriously, hope your sister's woes are over pretty quickly. I been getting pics sent to me from that Houston/Galveston area....nothing nice.

All the best to you and your family.

My question to you all is who do you think will or should redshirt?

If Adiefe and Roberson were eligible at the start of the season (and they are not, they will miss 7 or so games this year), I would redshirt Lago, Wallace, and Johnson. But this is not the case.

Adiefe and Roberson play the same positions as Wallace and Johnson respectively. If Wallace and Johnson were redshirted we still would have Barr and Batiste to play the post and Gary to play the forward but that leaves us to thin in the first 7 or so games. So I do not see Wallace or Johnson redshirting this season.

Lago I do see redshirting as McCoy and Daigle will be playing ahead of him. If Lago does not redshirt he, McCoy, and Daigle will all be Sr.'s at the same time with Daigle maybe earning an extra year. If we must go to a 3rd PG during a game for what ever reason Phillip Jones could be the guy.

We cannot totally rule out Adiefe and Roberson redshirting because they are already losing at least 20% of the season, if they redshirt they would get 2 full years to play later.

We must not forget at some point in time Coach Lee will need to redshirt some players either this year or next because we may lose as many as 11 to graduation at one time in 2 years. Some players such as Daigle, Dison, and Gary may earn a year back and I hope they do. Because Daigle, Dison, and Gary have already sat out a seaon they will not redshirt.

Guys that are redshirtable Adiefe, Bureau, Gradnigo, Johnson, Lago, Roberson, and Wallace. Gradnigo will not redshirt for obvious reason.

This is what I would do:
    1. Redshirt Lago, Adiefe, and Roberson, if Adiefe and Roberson would agree to this and if they are not at academic risk to be lost at a later date.
    2. I would redshirt Wallace and Johnson in their Sr.'s season when Adiefe and Roberson could play a full season and all 4 players would still be here 3 years when Gradnigo, Bureau, Gary, and Daigle would be here.

If Lee plays his cards just right and everyone takes care of their grades, everyone on this roster will still be here in 3 years except Barr, McCoy, and Bloom. Risky but Wow.

We must remember their are 15 guys on the roster and one ball so 10 guys is about as big of a rotation as you can have. With the above senerio it would leave us

    PG: McCoy and Daigle
    SG: Bureau, Dison, Bloom
    SF: Gradnigo and Johnson'
    PF: Ryan and Batiste
    C: Barr and Wallace

    Next season insert
    Adiefe for Wallace
    Roberson for Johnson
    and add Lago

The following season everyone plays except Barr, McCoy, and Bloom.

Don't expect Roberson and Adeife to redshirt. Roberson sat out a year already after transferring from Houston to UNLV. Adeife is one of the team's top inside players and will be needed this season.

Wallace and Lago are the top candidates to redshirt. I think Johnson is on the verge of a breakout season.

    Great post,
I agree with you on Lago. He is the most likely to get the redshirt. After that it gets complicated.
I don't think you have to redshirt Johnson and Wallace. You can probably get by the first seven games with one of them redshirting. From what I have seen Johnson could use the off year more.
I don't see the the big guy from UNLV redshirting. He was brought in to fortify the front line.
    So my 12 would be:
    PG: McCoy, Daigle, Jones
    SG: Bureau, Dison, Bloom
    SF: Gradnigo and Gary
    PF: Wallace, Roberson, Batiste
    C: Barr and Adiefe

    Next season insert
    Johnson and Lago

Of course this is all subject to change when practice starts.

I don't think there's an issue of whether the Cajuns can get by without redshirting players this season.

They need to redshirt at least two guys to keep from having a huge senior class down the line. You need a gap for a few guys or else you lose everyone at the same time.

I'd love to redshirt Tyren Johnson. I wanted us to do it last year. The guy's got a great frame and crazy basketball ability. But I think he could really benefit from a 5th year to add size and develop into a dominant forward for the team. I think we'll have a great year this year. I can't wait for it to start.

Thanks Parrot, MetryCajun, and Brock Meaux for the response. After reading about Roberson playing at Houston before UNLV I then remembered that he did already use the redshirt. I also agree about Johnson really needs that 5th year. He will develop and get better every year.

My guess now is Lago and Johnson. Wallace is a canidate to redshirt also, but ideally Adiefe should redshirt instead since he will miss 7 games and let Wallace redshirt next season.

I would like to redshirt who we can without sacrificing any wins in the first 7 games to teams like McNeese, La Tech, and others.

    New predictions
    PG: McCoy, Daigle, and Jones
    SG: Bureau, Dison, and Bloom
    SF: Gradnigo and Roberson
    PF: Ryan and Batiste
    C: Barr and Adeife

    Redshirts: Lago, Johnson, and Wallace
