Lots of "not caring" going on with the wikipedia page. I'm amazed it actually bugs people that we want to call ourselves a certain name. And people wonder why so many of us are overflowing with vitriol towards other state schools.

Check out our athletic website. Athletically, we are LOUISIANA. Louisiana is legal and it is our athletic brand. It appears only our marketing dept. is screwing up how we get that message out. Athletics certainly is doing it right. Why do you think we have LOUISIANA on our jerseys, stadiums and fields? We can certainly enjoy all the positive things that are going on while still fighting for our rightful name, LOUISIANA. Pointing out where problems exist can lead to resolving the problem. We need to connect Ragin Cajuns with LOUISIANA. Every website is different. Some use it with LOUISIANA and some use it with Louisiana Lafayette. There is no consistency anywhere with our name, partly because there is no consistency coming out of the university marketing vs. athletics. Simply pointing out an issue with our name that could possibly lead to correcting it should not offend anyone. This website led to identifying Wikepedia errors.
Would have never thought there would be a secret Wikipedia war going on. Just change the logo to the Louisiana|Ragin' Cajuns one.
Please explain to me specifically what you'd like the marketing dept. to do.
Do you want them to tell the national media to use Louisiana for athletics? They've already done that a thousand times.
Do you want them to tell the national media to refer to our University as Louisiana, UL, or University of Louisiana? They can't legally do that.
Do you want them to call the University "Louisiana?" They can't legally do that.
They actually could reference themselves as Louisiana but won't because it is to casual.
Not all documents are legal documents, but even in legal documents self given nicknames are 100% legal.
Example: The very Law that spelled out the naming guidelines said "System" is how we will refer to the "University of Louisiana System"
They put out a Branding issue of LaLouisiane that we are branded as the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns. Then they told the SBC that our preferred athletic reference is UL Lafayette and our nickname is Louisiana Ragin Cajuns. And, use UL-L as our abbreviated reference. So, that makes us the UL Lafayette Louisiana Ragin Cajuns, which is ridiculous. Then the UL-L reference when our website says to not us any hyphens when referring to our university. Why weren't they on board with athletics and said simply that our preferred athletic reference is Louisiana and our nickname is Ragin Cajuns? Any wonder there is confusion on what to call us?
And for the hundredth time by me and everyone else here, use of Louisiana without "University of" is legal. Why do you keep saying it is not?
And for the hundredth time, what the hell good has it done to bring it up on every thread that has ever been started on this board? Convince people to stop donating. Raise money to fund a campaign. Bring a group to protest on the steps at Martin hall. Bring a case against the state to change the law. But for God's sake, stop preaching to the choir. If that many people on this board truly believed that this was the main issue at hand, the raginpagin army would be marching down University as we speak. Otherwise, it's a lot of bark and no bite.
